- .... Then Abu Bakr sent Umar ibn al-Khattab to Ali and those with him to bring them out of Fatimah's (ra) house. He said, "If they refuse to you, fight them." So Umar approached with something of fire, intending to set the house ablaze, but he was met by Fatimah (ra) who said, "Where are you going, son of al-Khattab? Have you come to burn our house?" He replied, "Yes, or you will enter what the ummah has entered." Then Ali went out until he came to Abu Bakr and pledged allegiance to him. Thus, al-Qadi Jamal al-Din ibn Wasil narrated this and attributed it to Ibn Abd Rabbih al-Maghribi....
