Al-Nuwairi:
Ahmad ibn Abd al-Wahhab ibn Muhammad ibn Abd al-Da'im al-Qurashi al-Taymi al-Bakri Shihab al-Din al-Nuwairi:
A scholar and researcher with a wealth of knowledge, his lineage traced to Nuwaira (a village in Bani Suwayf, Egypt), where he was born and raised in Qus.
He connected with Sultan Al-Malik al-Nasir, who entrusted him with some of his matters. He served in various governmental positions and took on the oversight of the army in Tripoli. He also oversaw the diwan in both Dakahlia and Al-Murtahiya. He was of quick understanding, good-looking, and possessed a natural generosity and affection for his companions. He had a modest body of poetry and composed good prose.
It is sufficient to note that he authored the monumental work
(Nihayat al-Arb fi Funun al-Adab - End of the Four in the Arts of Literature), which is very large and resembles an encyclopedia, reflecting the extent of knowledge available to Arabs in his time. Fazilif states that despite the late era in which
Nihayat al-Arb was written, it contains significant accounts of Sicily, which he transcribed from ancient historians whose works have not survived to us, such as Ibn al-Raqiq, Ibn Rushiq, Ibn Shaddad, and others. He passed away in Cairo.
