- .... from the Book of the Saqifah by Ahmad ibn Abd al-Aziz al-Jawahiri, who said: When allegiance was pledged to Abu Bakr, al-Zubayr and al-Miqdad used to go back and forth with a group of people to Ali, who was in Fatimah's house, consulting and discussing their matters Then Umar went out and entered Fatimah's (peace be upon her) house and said: "O daughter of the Messenger of Allah, there is no one among creation dearer to us than your father, and there is no one dearer to us than you after your father." And by God, this is not because we deny that these few men are gathered around you. I will surely order the house to be set on fire upon them." When Umar left, they came to her, and she said: "You know that Umar came to me and swore to me by God that if you return, he will burn the house down on you. And by God, he will carry out what he swore to do." So they turned away from us, acting wisely, and did not return to her house, and went and pledged allegiance to Abu Bakr.

- .... And this is as they claimed, narrating a report they attributed to Ja'far ibn Muhammad (peace be upon them) and others: that Umar struck Fatimah (peace be upon her) with a whip and struck Zubair with a sword, and that Umar intended to go to her home, where Ali (peace be upon him), Zubair, and Miqdad, along with a group of those who had delayed their allegiance to Abu Bakr, were gathered. He said to her: "There is no one after your father who is dearer to us than you, and by God, if these few men gather around you, we will burn them." And he prevented the people from gathering.
