- .... His statement: (Her husband Ali buried her at night and did not inform Abu Bakr about it): Ibn Sa'd narrated through the route of Umarah bint Abdul Rahman that al-Abbas prayed over her, and from several other sources, that she was buried at night, and this was by her own request, as she wished to be more concealed. Perhaps he did not inform Abu Bakr of her death because he thought that this would not be unnoticed by him, and there is nothing in the report indicating that Abu Bakr was unaware of her death or that he did not pray over her.

- .... And thus, Imam Ahmad narrated it from Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, then Ahmad narrated it from Ya'qub ibn Ibrahim, from his father, from Salih ibn Kaysan, from al-Zuhri, from Urwa, from Aisha: that Fatima asked Abu Bakr after the death of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) about her inheritance from what he left behind of what Allah had bestowed upon him. Abu Bakr said to her, "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, 'We do not inherit; what we leave behind is charity.'" So Fatima became angry and forsook Abu Bakr, and she continued to forsake him until she passed away. He said Fatima lived for six months after the death of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and he mentioned the rest of the hadith. Thus, Imam Ahmad said. Al-Bukhari also narrated this hadith in the Book of Maghazi from his Sahih, from Ibn Bukayr, from al-Layth, fromuqayl, from al-Zuhri, from Urwa, from Aisha, as mentioned earlier, and he added: "When she died, he buried her at night and did not inform Abu Bakr, and he prayed over her. Ali had a favorable standing among the people during Fatima's life. But when she died, this was perceived as a change in the people's expressions, so he sought to reconcile with Abu Bakr and pledge allegiance to him, although he had not pledged allegiance during those months." He sent a message to Abu Bakr: "Come to us, and let no one come with you," for he disliked the idea of Umar accompanying him, knowing Umar's severity. Umar said, "By Allah, you will not go in alone to see them." Abu Bakr replied, "What can they do to me? By Allah, I will go to them…"

Chapter on Clarifying the Difficulties of What Was Narrated from the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, regarding Which of His Daughters Was the Best Among Them
Volume: (1) - Page Number: (137)
143 - So we found Ahmad ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Wahb narrating to us: He said, My uncle Abdullah ibn Wahb narrated to us, and Ibrahim ibn Abi Dawud narrated to us, saying, Abdullah ibn Salih narrated to us. Then they both met and each one said: Al-Layth ibn Sa'd narrated to me, from Uqayl, from Ibn Shuhab, from Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, from Aisha, that she informed him that Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, sent a message to Abi Bakr asking him for her inheritance from the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and his holy progeny, in Medina, from Fadak, and from what remained of the fifth of Khaybar. Abu Bakr said to her: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and his holy progeny, said: "We do not inherit what we leave behind; it is charity. The family of Muhammad, peace be upon him and his holy progeny, only used to eat from this wealth," and I swear by Allah, I will not alter anything of the charity of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and his holy progeny, from the state it was in during his lifetime. I will act in it according to what the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and his holy progeny, did. So Abu Bakr refused to give Fatimah anything from it, and Fatimah felt resentful towards Abu Bakr for that and estranged him, speaking to him no more until she passed away. She lived for six months after the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and his holy progeny. When she died, her husband, Ali ibn Abi Talib, buried her at night and did not inform Abi Bakr, and Ali prayed over her. Abu Ja'far said: Then there was from the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and his holy progeny, further clarification to the people of Fatimah's superiority over all his other daughters and over all the other women of the believers besides her and them.
