- Text of the Hadith: Umm Salamah said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say, "The Mahdi is from my lineage, from the descendants of Fatimah." (Sahih) - Ibn Majah 4086.

Type of Hadith: Hasan
- Text of the Hadith: On the authority of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "The Mahdi is from me, with a shiny forehead and an aquiline nose. He will fill the earth with fairness and justice, just as it has been filled with oppression and tyranny." He will rule for seven years. (Hasan) - Al-Rawd 53/2, Al-Mishkat 5454.
