10779 - Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, who said: Shu'bah narrated to us, from whom I heard Zayd Abū al-Hawārī say: I heard Abū al-Siddiq narrating from Abū Sa'id al-Khudrī, who said: "We feared that something might occur after our Prophet, so we asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)." He said: "The Mahdi will emerge in my Ummah in five, seven, or nine," Zayd the unsure one added. I asked, "What kind of things?" He replied, "Years." Then he said, "Rain will be sent down upon them from the sky in abundance, and the earth will not withhold anything of its vegetation. Wealth will be like heaps." He said, a man will come to him and say, 'O Mahdi, give me, give me,' and he will shuffle into his robe whatever he can carry."

10933 - Abdullah ibn al-Razaaq narrated to us, saying: Ja'far narrated to us, from al-Mu'alli ibn Ziyaad, who said: al-'Alaa ibn Bashir narrated to us, from Abu al-Siddiq al-Naji, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "Shall I not give you glad tidings of the Mahdi? He will be sent in my Ummah during a time of اختلاف (differences) among the people and earthquakes, and he will fill the earth with justice and fairness, just as it has been filled with oppression and tyranny. He will be pleasing to the inhabitants of the heavens and the inhabitants of the earth. He will distribute wealth in equal parts." A man said to him, "What are equal parts?" He replied, "Fairness among the people." He continued, "Allah will fill the hearts of the Ummah of Muhammad (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) with richness, and they will be content with his justice until he commands a caller who will announce, 'Whoever has a need for money, let him come forward.'" But no one among the people will stand up except one man, who will say, "Go to the sīdaan," meaning the treasurer, "and tell him that the Mahdi commands you to give me money." The treasurer will say to him, "Gather it." Then, when he places it in his lap and presents it, he will regret and say, "I was the most greedy of the Ummah of Muhammad (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) or was unable to provide what could have satisfied them." He will then return it, but it will not be accepted from him, and it will be said to him, "Are we not taking anything that was given to us?" It will be thus for seven years, or eight years, or nine years, and then there will be no good in living after him," or he said, "then there will be no good in life after him."

11092 - Zayd ibn al-Habbab narrated to us, saying: Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to me, and al-Mu'alli ibn Ziyad al-Mu'li narrated to us, from al-Ala ibn Bashir al-Mazani, from Abu al-Siddiq al-Naji, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, "Shall I not give you good news of the Mahdi who will be sent in my Ummah?" He will come during a time of differences among the people and earthquakes, and he will fill the earth with justice and fairness, just as it has been filled with injustice and oppression. Both the inhabitants of the heavens and the inhabitants of the earth will be pleased with him, and Allah will fill the hearts of the Ummah of Muhammad with wealth, so that no one will need anyone else. A caller will then announce: "Whoever has a need for wealth, let him come forth." A man will stand and say, "I do," and he will be told, "Go to the sadeen," meaning the guardian, "and tell him that the Mahdi has said to give you." So he will go to the sadeen and say this to him, and he will be told, "Just gather your thoughts." He will gather them, and when he secures what he needs, he will say, "I was the most greedy of the Ummah of Muhammad, or I was unable to give you what would suffice them." He will remain for seven years, or eight years, or nine years, and then there will be no good in life or existence after him. Zayd ibn al-Habbab narrated to us, saying: Ja'far ibn Sulayman narrated to me, and al-Mu'alli ibn Ziyad narrated to us, from al-Ala ibn Bashir al-Mazani, who was known to weep during remembrance and be courageous during encounters, from Abu al-Siddiq al-Naji, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, similar to this, adding: "He will feel regret and be brought by the sadeen, who will say to him, 'We will not accept anything we have given.'"

It was narrated from Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri that the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) said: "The Mahdi will be among my nation. If he lives for a short period, it will be seven, and if he lives for a long period, it will be nine, during which my nation will enjoy a time of ease such as it has never enjoyed. The land will bring forth its yield and will not hold back anything, and wealth at that time will be piled up. A man will stand up and say: 'O Mahdi, give me!' He will say: 'Take.'"

- The end of the Book of Trials: Al-Hakim (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I have narrated what has reached my knowledge of the trials of the last times on the tongue of the Chosen One (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) with chains of narration appropriate to this book. As for the two Shaykhs (may Allah be pleased with them), they mentioned the terrors of the Day of Resurrection and Gathering as if it were included in the trials. I have followed the choice of Imam Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Ishaq ibn Khuzaymah (may Allah be pleased with him) in treating this separately from the trials and calamities. And Allah is the Granter of success in what I have chosen, and He is my sufficient guardian and excellent protector.

- .... And from Abu Sa'id that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "There will be the Mahdi in my Ummah," whether he stays for a shorter time of seven years or a longer time of nine. My Ummah will enjoy a blessing in it that they have never experienced before, which will provide its full yield and leave nothing behind. On that day, wealth will be like a heap (i.e., a large collection). A man will stand and say: "O Mahdi, give me," and he will reply: "Take." Ibn Majah narrated this.
