Imam Hasan and Husain (peace be on them both) are my two fragrances in the world

Hadith No: 1

Narrated Ibn Abi Nu'm:

A person asked `Abdullah bin `Umar whether a Muslim could kill flies. I heard him saying (in reply). "The people of Iraq are asking about the killing of flies while they themselves murdered the son of the daughter of Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.a.) . The Prophet (s.a.w.a.) said, They (i.e. Hasan and Husain) are my two sweet basils in this world."

Hadith No: 2

Narrated Ibn Abi Na'm:

I was present when a man asked Ibn `Umar about the blood of mosquitoes. Ibn `Umar said, "From where are you?" The man replied. "From Iraq." Ibn `Umar said, "Look at that! he is asking me about the blood of Mosquitoes while they (the Iraqis ) have killed the (grand) son of the Prophet. I have heard the Prophet (s.a.w.a.) saying, "They (Hasan and Husain) are my two sweet-smelling flowers in this world."

Narrated 'Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Nu'm:

that a man from the people of Al-'Iraq asked Ibn 'Umar about the blood of a gnat that gets on the clothes. Ibn 'Umar said "Look at this one, he asks about the blood of a gnat while they killed the son of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.)! And I heard the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) said: 'Indeed Al-Hasan and Al-Husain - they are my two sweet basils in the world.'"

1642 - Abu al-Qasim Ibrahim ibn al-Haytham al-Naqid narrated to us, saying: Dawud ibn Rashid narrated to us, saying: Mansur Abu al-Nasr narrated to us, saying: Mahdi narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Abi Ya'qub, from Ibn Abi Ni'm, who said: I was sitting with Ibn Umar when a man from the people of Iraq came to him and asked him about the blood of mosquitoes. He replied: "Look at this one asking me about the blood of mosquitoes while they have killed the son of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)." And I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say: "They are my two precious ones from this world."

1643 - Abu Ubaid Ali ibn al-Husayn ibn Harb al-Qadi narrated to us, saying: Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad al-Za'farani narrated to us, saying: Shababah, meaning Ibn Suwar, narrated to us, saying: Mahdi narrated to us, from Muhammad ibnAbi Ya'qub, from IbnAbi Ni'm, who said: I heard Ibn Umar, and a man came to him and asked him about the blood of mosquitoes. Ibn Umar asked, "Who are you?" The man replied, "I am from the people of Iraq." Ibn Umar said, "Come, look at this one asking me about the blood of mosquitoes while they have killed the son of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)." And I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say: "They are my two fragrant plants from this world."

5739 - Zuheir narrated to us, saying: Abdul Rahman narrated to us, saying: Mahdi ibn Maymun narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Ya'qub, from Ibn Abi Ni'm, that a man asked Ibn Umar about the blood of mosquitoes. He said: "What people are you from?" The man replied: "From the people of Iraq." Ibn Umar said: "Look at this one asking me about the blood of mosquitoes while they have killed the son of the Messenger of Allah." And I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say: "They are my two sweet basils from this world."

2039 - Abu Dawud narrated to us, saying: Shu'bah narrated to us from Muhammad ibn Abi Ya'qub from Ibn Abi Ni'm, who said: I was with Ibn Umar when he was asked about a pilgrim (muhrim) killing a fly. He said: O people of Iraq, do you ask me about a pilgrim killing a fly while you killed the son of the granddaughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)? And the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "They are my two fragrant flowers from this world."

3990 - Ahmad ibn Mabharam al-Ayzhaji narrated to us, who said: al-Jarrah ibn Makhlad narrated to us, who said: al-Hasan ibn Unbisa narrated to us, who said: Ali ibn Hashim narrated to us from Muhammad ibn Ubaydullah ibn Ali from Abdullah ibn Abdulrahman al-Hazmi from his father, from his grandfather, from Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, who said: "I entered upon the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) while Hasan and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them) were playing between his hands and in his lap. I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, do you love them?' He replied, 'And how could I not love them? They are my two sweet basils from this world, and I smell them.'"

1743 - Faruq al-Khatabi narrated to us, Thna: Abu Muslim al-Kashi narrated to us, Thna: Hajjaj ibn Munhal and Abu Umar al-Darir both said: Thna: Mahdi ibn Maymun narrated to me, informing me: Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Ya'qub from Ibn Abi Naim, who said: I was with Ibn Umar, and he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say: "They are my two fragrant flowers from this world," meaning al-Hasan and al-Husayn.
