It was mentioned that an agreement was reached between them on a peace treaty signed by both parties: I have translated it as we received it from its sources, verbatim.
Article One: To hand over authority to Muawiya on the condition that he acts according to the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger [al-Mada'ini, as narrated by Ibn Abi al-Hadid in Sharh al-Nahj 4/8], and the practices of the righteous caliphs [Fath al-Bari, as narrated by Ibn Aqil in al-Nasa'ih al-Kafiya liman yatawala Muawiya, p. 156].
Article Two: That authority be for al-Hasan (peace be upon him) after him [Tarikh al-Khulafa' by al-Suyuti, p. 194, and al-Isaba 2/12-13, and Waqdi's Encylopedia 3/443], and Muawiya has no right to appoint it to anyone [al-Mada'ini, as narrated by Ibn Abi al-Hadid 4/8, and Al-Fusul al-Muhimma fi Ma'rifat Ahwal al-A'imma by Ibn Sabbagh and others].
Article Three: That cursing the Commander of the Faithful and holding rituals against him in prayer be stopped, and that Ali (peace be upon him) be mentioned only in good [al-Asfahani: Maqatil al-Talibiyyin, p. 26, Sharh al-Nahj 4/15]. Others said that he agreed on the condition that Ali (peace be upon him) not be cursed in his presence, and Ibn al-Athir said: He did not fulfill this agreement either.
Article Four: To hand over what is in the Treasury of Kufa, five thousand dirhams, to al-Hasan (peace be upon him), and that he have the tax from the House in Abjurd [al-Tabari 6/92, and al-Akhbar al-Tiwal, p. 218], and that two thousand dirhams be sent each year to his brother al-Husayn (peace be upon him), and the descendants of Banu Hashim be given preference in grants and prayers over the servants of Abd Shams.
Article Five: That no one from the people of Iraq be taken with injustice, and that the black and red be safe, and that what may occur from their slips be tolerated [al-Akhbar al-Tiwal, p. 218], on the condition that the people are safe wherever they are in the land of Allah, in their Greater Syria, Iraq, Tihama, and Hijaz [Futuh Ibn al-Athim 4/160].
