- .... It is said: That Muawiya sent a secret message to Ja'da, the daughter of al-Ash'ath ibn Qays, the wife of al-Hasan, and incited her to poison him, and she was one who bore enmity towards him.
- .... It is also said: Qatadah and Abu Bakr ibn Hafs said that al-Hasan ibn Ali was poisoned by his wife, the daughter of al-Ash'ath ibn Qays al-Kindi. Some said that this was done by her at Muawiya's instigation and due to what was offered to her in return. She had co-wives ....
- .... He told me: Muhammad ibn Ya'qub al-Hafiz said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to us: Ahmad ibn al-Muqaddam narrated to us: Zuhair ibn al-'Ala narrated to us: Sa'id ibn Abi 'Awrubah narrated from Qatadah ibn Dhu'mah al-Sudusi, who said: Ja'da, the daughter of al-Ash'ath ibn Qays, poisoned al-Hasan ibn Ali while he was her husband, and she was paid money for this.
- .... Abu al-Hasan al-Mada'ini also narrated it, saying: His death occurred in the year forty-nine, and his illness lasted forty days, and he was forty-seven years old. Muawiya secretly administered poison to him through the hand of Ja'da, the daughter of al-Ash'ath ibn Qays, the wife of al-Hasan, and said to her: "If you kill him with poison, you will receive one hundred thousand, and I will marry you to my son Yazid." When she poisoned al-Hasan and he died, he fulfilled his promise to her with the money but did not marry her to Yazid, saying: "I fear you will do to my son what you did to the son of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)."
- .... Abu al-Faraj also narrated it in Maqatil al-Talibiyyin, stating: al-Hasan (peace be upon him) died a martyr, poisoned by Muawiya's machination, along with Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, when he intended to appoint his son Yazid as his successor after him. They were both poisoned and died within days of each other. The martyrdom of Imam al-Hasan (peace be upon him) occurred through Ja'da, the daughter of al-Ash'ath, administering poison to him at the instigation of Yazid ibn Muawiya.
- Abu Muhammad ibn al-Akfaani said: Abdul Aziz al-Kunani told us: Abdullah ibn Ahmad al-Sayrafi informed us by authorization: Abu Umar ibn Hayuyeh told us: Muhammad ibn Khalaf ibn al-Marzuban narrated to me: Abu Abdullah al-Tamami said: Muhammad ibn Salam al-Jumahi informed us, saying: Ja'da, the daughter of al-Ash'ath ibn Qays, was married to al-Hasan ibn Ali, and Yazid secretly instructed her to poison al-Hasan, saying, "I will marry you to him." She did so, and when al-Hasan died, Ja'da sent for Yazid to ask him to fulfill his promise. He replied: "By Allah, we did not find you suitable for al-Hasan, how then can we find you suitable for ourselves?"

Al-Zamakhshari also narrated it in Chapter: (81) of Rabee' al-Abarar, saying: "Muawiya gave Jada' bint al-Ash'ath, the wife of al-Hasan, one hundred thousand dirhams to poison him, until she succeeded in poisoning him." I have expelled my liver."
