al-Hasan and al-Husain are the fragrance of my world

Narrated Ibn Abi Nu'm:

A person asked `Abdullah bin `Umar whether a Muslim could kill flies. I heard him saying (in reply). "The people of Iraq are asking about the killing of flies while they themselves murdered the son of the daughter of Allah's Messenger (s.a.w.a.) . The Prophet (S) said, They (i.e. Hasan and Husain) are my two sweet basils in this world."

Hadith No: 2

Narrated Ibn Abi Na'm:

I was present when a man asked Ibn `Umar about the blood of mosquitoes. Ibn `Umar said, "From where are you?" The man replied. "From Iraq." Ibn `Umar said, "Look at that! he is asking me about the blood of Mosquitoes while they (the Iraqis ) have killed the (grand) son of the Prophet. I have heard the Prophet (S) saying, "They (Hasan and Husain) are my two sweet-smelling flowers in this world."

Hadith No: 3

Narrated 'Abdur-Rahman bin Abu Nu'm:

that a man from the people of Al-'Iraq asked Ibn 'Umar about the blood of a gnat that gets on the clothes. Ibn 'Umar said "Look at this one, he asks about the blood of a gnat while they killed the son of the Messenger of Allah (S)! And I heard the Messenger of Allah (S) said: 'Indeed Al-Hasan and Al-Husain - they are my two sweet basils in the world.'"

1642 - Abu al-Qasim Ibrahim ibn al-Haytham al-Naqid narrated to us, saying: Dawud ibn Rashid narrated to us, saying: Mansur Abu al-Nasr narrated to us, saying: Mahdi narrated to us from Muhammad ibn Abi Yaqub, from Ibn Abi Ni'm, who said: I was sitting with Ibn Umar when a man from the people of Iraq came to him and asked him about the blood of mosquitoes. Ibn Umar replied: "Look at this one asking me about the blood of mosquitoes, while they have killed the son of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)." And I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say: "They are my two fragrant flowers from this world."

1643 - Abu Ubayd Ali ibn al-Husayn ibn Harb, the judge, narrated to us, saying: Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad al-Za'farani narrated to us, saying: Shababah, meaning Ibn Suwar, narrated to us, saying: Mahdi narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Abi Ya'qub, from Ibn Abi Ni'm, who said: I heard Ibn Umar, and a man came to him and asked him about the blood of mosquitoes. He said: "From whom are you?" The man replied: "I am from the people of Iraq." He said: "Come, see this one asking me about the blood of mosquitoes while they have killed the son of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)." And I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say: "They are my two sweet basils from this world."

5739 - Zuhair narrated to us, saying: Abdul Rahman narrated to us, saying: Mahdi ibn Maymun narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Ya'qub, from Ibn Abi Ni'm, that a man asked Ibn Umar about the blood of mosquitoes. He replied, "From which people are you?" The man said, "I am from the people of Iraq." Ibn Umar said, "Look at this one asking me about the blood of mosquitoes, while they have killed the son of the Messenger of Allah." And I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say: 'They are my two fragrant ones from this world.'

2039 - Abu Dawud narrated to us, saying: Sha'bah narrated to us from Muhammad ibn Abi Ya'qub from Ibn Abi Ni'am, who said: I was with Ibn Umar when he was asked about a pilgrim (muhrim) killing a fly. He said: O people of Iraq, you ask me about a pilgrim killing a fly while you have killed the son of the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) had said, "They are my two fragrant flowers in this world."

3990 - Ahmad ibn Mabarham al-Ayidzi narrated to us, saying: Al-Jarrah ibn Makhlad narrated to us, saying: Al-Hasan ibn Unbassah narrated to us, saying: Ali ibn Hashim narrated to us from Muhammad ibn Ubaydullah ibn Ali, from Abdullah ibn Abdul Rahman al-Hazmi, from his father, from his grandfather, from Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, who said: "I entered upon the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) while Hassan and Hussain (peace be upon them) were playing between him and in his lap." I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, do you love them?' He replied, 'And how could I not love them when they are my two fragrant flowers from this world? I smell them.'

1743 - Faruq al-Khatabi narrated to us, saying: Abu Muslim al-Kishi narrated to us, saying: Hajjaj ibn Munhal and Abu Umar al-Darir both said: Mahdi ibn Maymun narrated to us, telling me that Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Ya'qub narrated from Ibn Abi Na'im, who said: I was with Ibn Umar, and he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say: "They are my two treasured flowers from this world," meaning al-Hasan and al-Husayn."
