Al-Dhahabi - Siyar A'lam al-Nubala - And Among the Minor Companions - Al-Husayn the Martyr

- .... from Anas who said: A king of the realm asked for permission to see the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: O Umm Salama, keep the door for us. Then Al-Husayn came, and he broke in and began to climb on the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and the Messenger of Allah was kissing him. The king said: Do you love him? He said: Yes. The king said: Your ummah will kill him. If you wish, I can show you the place where he will be killed. He said: Yes. Then he brought him a plain or red soil. Thabit said: We used to say it was Karbala.

- .... From Abu Umamah, who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said to his wives: "Do not weep for this," indicating Al-Husayn: It was on the day of Umm Salamah, and Gabriel descended. The Messenger of Allah said to Umm Salamah: "Do not let anyone enter." Then Al-Husayn came and cried, and she thought he would enter, so he entered and sat in the lap of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). Then Gabriel said: "Your ummah will kill him." He said: 'They will kill him while they are believers.'" He replied: "Yes," and he showed him his soil. Its chain of narration is good.

From Umm Salamah: that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) lay down one day, then woke up looking distressed, then lay down again, then woke up looking distressed, then lay down again, and then woke up holding a red soil in his hand, which he was turning over. I said: "What is this?" He said: "Gabriel informed me that this will be killed in the land of Iraq for Al-Husayn, and this is his soil."

- .... From ʿĀ'ishah or Umm Salamah: that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said to her: "A angel has entered my house who has not entered before, and he said: 'Indeed, Husayn is to be killed, and if you wish, I can show you the soil." .... the hadith.

And from Hammad ibn Zayd from Saʿid ibn Jumhan: that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was visited by Jibril with soil from the ground where Husayn would be killed, and it was said that its name is Karbala. The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "Karb and Bala."
- .... Isrā'il: from Abu Ishaq, from Hāni' ibn Hāni' from Ali who said: "Husayn will surely be killed, and I know the soil of the earth where he will be killed."
