-
Narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "My son, this one," referring to al-Husayn, "will be killed in a land in Iraq. So whoever among you reaches him, let him support him." He said: Anas was killed alongside al-Husayn. Al-Mulla narrated this in his biography.
- From Anas ibn Malik, who said: The King of the Province sought permission from his Lord to visit the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and He granted him permission. It was on the day of Umm Salamah. The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "O Umm Salamah, keep the door shut for us; let no one enter." While she was at the door, al-Husayn ibn Ali entered, leaped, and went in. He jumped onto the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) began to kiss and embrace him. The King said to him, "Do you love him?" He replied, "Yes," and said,
"Your community will kill him, and if you wish, I can show you the place where he will be killed." So he showed him a plain or red soil. Umm Salamah took it and placed it in her garment. Thabit said, "We used to say it is Karbala." Al-Baghawi narrated this in his Mu'jam, and Abu Hatim mentioned it in his Sahih, saying: "If you wish, I can show you the place where he will be killed." He replied, "Yes," then took a handful of the place where he would be killed and showed it to him. He came to him with a plain, and then mentioned the rest of the hadith.
- Ahmad also narrated it in his Musnad, saying: Umm Salamah said: Then al-Husayn ibn Ali came to enter, and I tried to stop him, but he jumped and went in. He began to sit on the back of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), on his shoulder, and on his arm. She said the King mentioned the hadith
and said: He struck his hand on a piece of red soil and Umm Salamah took it, putting it in her headscarf. Thabit said, "We were told it was Karbala."- He also mentioned this in Nihayat al-Gharib. And she said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) wiping the head of al-Husayn and crying. I said, "What makes you cry?"
He replied, "Gabriel told me that my son will be killed in a land called Karbala." Then he handed me a handful of red soil and said, "This is from the soil of the earth where he will be killed, and whenever it turns to blood, know that he has been killed." Al-Mulla narrated this in his biography.
- And Um Salamah said: Gabriel was with the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and al-Husayn was with him, and he cried. She left him and went to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). Gabriel said to him, "Do you love him, O Muhammad?" He replied, "Yes."
Gabriel said, "Your community will kill him, and if you wish, I can show you from the soil of the earth where he will be killed." He spread his wing to the earth and showed him a land called Karbala. Ibn Bint Mani' narrated this.
- And she said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) lay down one day, woke up looking troubled, returned to sleep, and then woke up looking troubled again, not as much as she had seen before. Then he returned to sleep, woke up with a handful of red soil, and she said, "What is this, O Messenger of Allah?"
He replied, "Gabriel informed me that my son will be killed in the land of Iraq," meaning al-Husayn. I said to Gabriel, "Show me from the soil of the earth where he will be killed." He said, "This is his soil." Ibn Bint Mani' narrated this.
- And Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I entered upon the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) while his eyes were overflowing with tears. I said, "O Prophet of Allah, has someone made you angry? What is the matter with your eyes?" He said, "Gabriel (peace be upon him) stood up from beside me earlier
and told me that al-Husayn will be killed by the bank of the Euphrates." Then he mentioned the hadith to the end.- From Salmi, who said: I went to Umm Salamah, and she was crying. I said, "What makes you cry?" She replied, "I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)," meaning in a dream, "with dust on his head and beard."
I said, "What is wrong with you, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "I just witnessed the killing of al-Husayn." Al-Tirmidhi narrated this and said, "Strange hadith," and al-Baghawi in al-Hasan.
- And Ibn Abbas said: I saw the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) in a vision at midday, standing, disheveled and dusty, with a瓶 in his hand containing blood. I said, "What is this, O my father and mother?"
He replied, "This is the blood of al-Husayn. I have been collecting it since today," and found that he had been killed that day. Ibn Bint Mani' and Abu Umar al-Hafiz al-Salfy narrated this, saying: "The blood of al-Husayn and his companions. I have been collecting it..." the hadith.
