Volume: (1) - Page Number: (308)
427 - Abu Bakr narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ubayd narrated to me, from Sharhabil ibn Mudrik al-Ja'fiy, from Abdullah ibn Naji, from his father, who said: He traveled with Ali (ra) and was his companion at the time of purification. When he passed by Nineveh, while he was on his way to Siffin, Ali called out: "Be patient, Abu Abdullah, by the bank of the Euphrates!" I said, "What is it, Abu Abdullah?" He replied: "I entered upon the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and his eyes were overflowing with tears." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, what makes your eyes overflow? Has someone made you angry?"
He said: "No, rather Gabriel (peace be upon him) stood up from beside me shortly before and informed me that al-Husayn ibn Ali would be killed by the bank of the Euphrates." He then said, "Would you like me to show you some of his soil?" I said, "Yes." So he extended his hand, cupped a handful of soil, and gave it to me. I could not help but have my eyes overflow with tears.
