[The text is lengthy, so only the relevant excerpt is provided here]:
- .... Then Husayn said, "No, by Allah, that will never be!" So he fought him, and the companions of Husayn were all killed, among them around twelve young men from his family. Aarrow came to him and struck one of his sons in his lap, and he began to wipe the blood away, saying: "O Allah, judge between us and a people who called us to help, then killed us."
Then he ordered a cloak to be torn and wore it, and he went out with his sword, fighting until he was killed. He was killed by a man from Madhhij, who severed his head and went to Ibn Ziyad with it, saying about this:
"Load my mounts with silver and gold, for I have killed the veiled king.
I killed the best of people, mother and father, and the best of them in noble lineage."
He said: So he was sent to Yazid ibn Muawiya, who placed his head between his hands, and Abu Barzah al-Aslami was with him. Yazid kept striking his lips with a stick and saying:
"He will shatter the heads of men, mighty ones, * to us, while they were more unjust and more misguided."
Abu Barzah said to him, "Lift your stick, for by Allah, I have seen the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sometimes placing it on his lips, kissing him..."
