- Abu Abd Allah al-Hafiz, Abu Bakr Ahmad ibn al-Hasan al-Qadi, and Abu Muhammad ibn Abi Hamid al-Muqri narrated to us, saying: Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, saying: al-Abbas ibn Muhammad al-Duri narrated to us, from Khalid ibn Mukhlid, from Musa ibn Ya'qub, from Hashim ibn Hashim ibn Utbah ibn Abi Waqqas, from Abdullah ibn Wahb ibn Zum'ah, who said: Umm Salamah informed me that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) lay down one day to sleep, then woke up, bewildered, and again lay down and dozed off. He then woke up, still bewildered, though not as much as I had seen from him the first time. He lay down again and woke up, this time with a handful of red soil, which he was turning over in his hand. I said, "What is this soil, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: Gabriel (peace be upon him) informed me that this will be used to kill Husayn in the land of Iraq. So I said, 'O Gabriel, show me the soil of the land where he will be killed.' This is its soil. Musa al-Juhani followed him, narrating from Salih ibn Zayd al-Nakha'i, from Umm Salamah, and Aban from Sharh ibn Hawshab, from Umm Salamah.

- Muhammad Abdullah al-Hafiz narrated to me, saying: Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ali al-Jahiri informed us in Baghdad, saying: Abu al-Ahwass Muhammad ibn Haytham al-Qadi narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Mus'ab narrated to us, saying: al-Awza'i narrated to us from Abu Ammar Shu'dad ibn Abdullah, from Ummul-Fadl bint al-Harith, that she entered upon the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, I saw a disturbing dream involving you last night. He said: And what is it? She replied: It is very serious. He said: And what is it? She said: I saw a piece of your body cut off and placed in my lap. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: You saw something good. Fatimah will, if Allah wills, give birth to a boy, and he will be in your lap. Fatimah gave birth to al-Husayn, and he was in my lap as the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) had said. One day, I entered upon the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and placed him in my lap, and then I turned my gaze for a moment, and I saw the eyes of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) shedding tears. She said, so I said: O Prophet of Allah, with my father and mother, what is the matter with you? He said: Gabriel (peace be upon him) came to me and informed me that my Ummah will kill my son, and I said: This one? He replied: Yes, and he brought me a piece of soil from his soil that was red.
- Ali ibn Ahmad ibn Abdān narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Ubayd al-Saffar narrated to us, saying: Bishr ibn Musa narrated to us, saying: Abd al-Samad, meaning ibn Hasan, narrated to us, saying: Umarah, meaning ibn Zadhān, narrated to us from Thabit al-Bannani, from Anas ibn Malik, who said: The Angel of Rain requested permission to come to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and he granted it to him. He said to Umm Salamah: Keep the door closed so that no one enters. Then al-Husayn ibn Ali came and jumped in until he entered, and he began to fall onto the shoulder of the Prophet (peace be upon him). The angel said: Do you love him? The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: Yes. The angel said: Then your Ummah will kill him, and if you wish, I can show you the place where he will be killed. The Prophet (peace be upon him) then struck his hand and showed him a spot of red soil. Umm Salamah took it and tied it in the corner of her garment, and we began to hear that he would be killed in Karbala. This was likewise narrated by Shayban ibn Furukh from Umarah ibn Zadhān.

- And Abu Abd Allah al-Hafiz informed me by narration that Abu al-Husayn Ahmad ibn Uthman ibn Yahya told him, saying: Abu Isma'il Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Sulami narrated to us, saying: Sa'id ibn Abi Maryam narrated to us. And Abu Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami informed me that Abu Muhammad ibn Ziyad al-Sumudhi told them, saying: Muhammad ibn Ishaq ibn Khuzaymah narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Abdullah ibn Abd al-Rahim al-Barqi narrated to us, saying: Sa'id, who is the son of al-Hakam ibn Abi Maryam, narrated to me, from Yahya ibn Ayub, who said: Ibn Ghaziya, that is, 'Imarah, narrated to me, from Muhammad ibn Ibrahim, from Abu Salamah ibn Abd al-Rahman, who said: A'isha had a chamber, and when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) wished to meet Gabriel, he would meet him there. He ascended it once during this time and instructed A'isha not to let anyone overlook them. He said that the head of the staircase was in A'isha's chamber. Then Husayn ibn Ali entered and ascended, not knowing until it overwhelmed her. Gabriel said: "Who is this?" He replied, "My son." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) took him and placed him on his thigh. Gabriel (peace be upon him) said: "He will be killed; your nation will kill him." The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "My nation?" He replied, "Yes, and if you wish, I can inform you of the land where he will be killed." And Gabriel (peace be upon him) gestured to al-Tuf near Karbala in Iraq and took a red soil, showing it to him. Thus, Yahya ibn Ayub narrated it from 'Imarah ibn Ghaziya as a disconnected narration, and Ibrahim ibn Abi Yahya narrated it from 'Imarah as a connected chain, saying: From Muhammad ibn Ibrahim, from Abu Salamah, from A'isha.
