- "Indeed, Gabriel showed me the soil on which Hussein would be killed," and God's wrath has intensified against those who shed his blood. O Aisha, by the One in whose hand is my soul, it grieves me, and from this, some of my Ummah will kill Hussein after me.
- "Indeed, Gabriel came to me and informed me that my son would be killed by my Ummah." I said, "Show me his burial place," so he brought me red soil.

- O Aisha, are you not amazed? A angel just entered me, unlike any that has ever entered before and said: "My son will be killed," and "If you wish, I can show you the soil in which he will be killed." Then the angel raised his hand and showed me red soil.
- Yazid, may Allah not bless Yazid, the reviler and the curse-thrower. Indeed, my beloved and my support, Hussein, was mourned to me. I was shown his soil and saw his killer. However, he will not be killed among a people without them being supported only by their uncle, Allah, with a punishment.

At the banks of the Euphrates." I said, "What is that?" He replied: "I entered upon the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) one day and his eyes were overflowing with tears. I said, 'O Prophet of Allah, has someone made you angry? What is the matter with your eyes?' He said: 'Yes, Gabriel stood up from beside me before and informed me that Hussein will be killed at the banks of the Euphrates.' Then he said, 'Would you like me to let you smell his soil?' I said, 'Yes.' So he extended his hand, seized a handful of soil, and gave it to me. I could not help but have my eyes overflow.'"

- From al-Matlaba ibn Allah ibn Hantab, from Umm Salamah, who said: The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was sitting one day in my house and said: "Let no one enter upon me." So I waited, and then Hussein entered. I heard the sound of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) crying. I looked and saw Hussein in his lap or beside him, wiping his head and crying. I said: "By Allah, I did not know of this until he entered." The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) then said: "Gabriel was with us in the house and said: 'Do you love him?'" I replied, "As for loving him in this world, yes." He said: "Your ummah will kill him in a land called Karbala." Then Gabriel took some soil from it and showed it to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). When Hussein was surrounded after his killing, he said: "What is the name of this land?" They said: "The land of Karbala." He said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) spoke the truth. It is a land of grief and trial."
Nashij: Nashij is a sound accompanied by a moan and weeping, like a child’s sorrowful cry being echoed in their chest.

- Umm Salamah said: One day, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) lay down and then woke up feeling faint, holding a red soil in his hand and turning it over. I said: "What is this soil, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Gabriel told me that this will be used to kill Hussein in the land of Iraq." I said to Gabriel, "Show me the soil of the land where he will be killed," and this is its soil.

- Umm Salamah said: Hussein entered upon the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) while I was sitting at the door. I looked and saw the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) asleep on his stomach, something in his hand that he was turning over, and tears were streaming down his face. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, I looked and saw you turning something in your hand while the child is asleep on your stomach, and your tears are flowing." He replied: "Gabriel brought me the soil on which he will be killed and informed me that my ummah will kill him."

- Anas reported that the angel of the kingdom asked for permission to come to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and he granted it to him. The angel then said: "O Umm Salamah, keep the door closed; no one should enter." Then Hussein ibn Ali came and leaped in until he entered, and he began to clasp the Prophet's (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) shoulder. The angel said to him: "Do you love him?" The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) replied: "Yes." The angel said: "Then among your ummah is one who will kill him, and if you wish, I can show you the place where he will be killed." He struck his hand and showed him a spot of red dust. Umm Salamah took it and tucked it into the corner of her garment, saying: "We used to hear that he would be killed in Karbala."
