1667 - Abu Bakr ibn Abi Dawud narrated to us, who said: Ahmad ibn Yahya al-Sufi narrated to us, who said: Muhammad ibn Ubayd narrated to us, who said: Sharhabil ibn Mudrik al-Ja'fi narrated to us, from Abdullah ibn Naji al-Hadrami, from his father, who was a keeper of Ali's (peace be upon him) purification place. He said: We went out with Ali (peace be upon him) to Siffin, and when we reached the vicinity of Ninawa, he said: "Be patient, O Abu Abdullah, be patient, O Abu Abdullah, near the banks of the Euphrates." I said, "And what is the matter?" He replied: "I entered upon the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and his eyes were overflowing with tears." I said: "Did someone make you angry, O Messenger of Allah? Why do I see your eyes overflowing?"
He said: "Gabriel (peace be upon him) informed me that my Ummah would kill my son Husayn," and then he said to me, "Would you like me to show you some of his soil?" I replied, "Yes." He then extended his hand and took a handful, and when I saw it, I could not help but let my eyes overflow.
