- .... And Abd al-Jabbar ibn al-Abbas
narrated from Ammar al-Duhani: Ali passed by Ka'bwho said: "A man from the offspring of this one will be killed in a group, and the sweat of their horses will not dry until they return to Muhammad (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)." Then al-Hasan passed by, and they said: "This is [the one], O Abu Ishaq." He replied: "No." Then al-Husayn passed by, and they said: "This is [the one]." He said: "Yes." - .... And Muhammad ibn Sa'd said: Yahya ibn Hammad informed us, saying: Abu 'Awaneq narrated to us from Sulayman, meaning al-Amash, who said: Abu Abdullah al-Dubbi narrated to us, saying: We visited Ibn Hartham al-Dubbi when he returned from Siffin, and he was with Ali. He was sitting on his little platform, and he had a wife named Khardha who was more fervently in love with Ali and more firmly affirming his strength than anyone else. Then a sheep came and defecated, and he said: "The droppings of this sheep remind me of a حديث (narration) about Ali." They asked, "What did Ali know about this?" He replied: "We were returning from our journey from Siffin and stopped in Karbala. Ali stopped and prayed the Fajr prayer with us between some small trees and tamarisk bushes. Then he took a handful of the droppings of the ghazals and smelled it,
and then said: 'Oh, woe! Woe to those who will be killed by this dung; a people who will enter Paradise without reckoning.'" Khardha said, "What is strange about this? He knows what he is saying better than you," and she called out this while in the inner room.
- .... And Abu al-Hasan al-Darqutni said: Muhammad ibn Nu'h al-Jandysaburi narrated to us, saying: Ali ibn Harb al-Jandysaburi narrated to us, saying: Ishaq ibn Sulayman narrated to us, saying: Amr ibn Abi Qays narrated to us from Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Abyan from Qudamah al-Dubbi from Khardha, daughter of Samir, from her husband Harthamah ibn Sulami, who said: "We went out with Ali in one of the expeditions, and he traveled until he reached Karbala. He stopped at a tree to pray and took some soil from the ground, smelled it, and then said: 'Woe to you, O soil! By you, a people will be killed who will enter Paradise without reckoning.'" He continued, "Then we returned from our campaigns, and Ali was killed, and I forgot the narration." He said: "I was in the army that marched against al-Husayn, and when I reached him, I looked at the tree and remembered the narration. I advanced on my horse and said: 'I bring you glad tidings, son of the granddaughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny),'" and I told him the story. He asked, "With us or against us?" I replied, "Neither with you nor against you. I left dependents behind."
He then said: "If not, then in the Earth, by the One in whose hand is the soul of al-Husayn, no man will witness our killing today except that he will enter Hell." Then I went away, fleeing, turning my back on the Earth, until al-Husayn's death became hidden from me.
