- That a group of people went on a campaign to the lands of Rome and found in a church:
"Does a nation that killed Hussein *hope for the intercession of his grandfather on the Day of Judgment?"
They asked who wrote this, and they said: This was written three hundred years before the mission of your Prophet.

- Abu al-Qasim al-Baghawi narrated from Marwan, the freedman of Hind bint al-Muhallab, who said: Ayyub ibn Ubayd Allah ibn Ziyad told me that when the head of Hussein (peace be upon him) was brought, I saw the governor's house flowing with blood.
- He also narrated from Ja'far ibn Suleiman, who said: My aunt Umm Salama told me: When Hussein (peace be upon him) was killed, we experienced rain that resembled blood on the houses and walls, and it reached me that this occurred in Khurasan, Damascus, and Kufa.
- Ibn al-Sudi narrated from Umm Salama, who said: When Hussein (peace be upon him) was killed, it rained blood.
- He also narrated from Ibn Shayhab, who said: When Hussein (peace be upon him) was killed, no stone was lifted or removed in Damascus except that it was covered in blood.
- Al-Tirmidhi narrated and authenticated from Imarah ibn Umayr, who said: When the head of Hussein was brought to Ubayd Allah ibn Ziyad and his companions, it was placed in the mosque in the courtyard, and I approached them while they were saying: It has come, it has come. Then, a serpent came weaving between the heads until it entered the nostrils of Ubayd Allah ibn Ziyad and his companions, and it stayed for a moment, then emerged and left until it disappeared. Then they said: It has come, it has come, and it did this two or three times.
