58 - Al-Abbas ibn Hisham ibn Muhammad al-Kufi informed me, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: There was a man from the Banu Aban ibn Darm tribe named Zar'ah, who witnessed the killing of Al-Husayn (peace be upon him). He shot an arrow at Al-Husayn, and it struck his jaw, causing him to catch the blood as it flowed, saying: "Like this to the heavens," and then he would throw it. This was because Al-Husayn had called for water to drink, but when Zar'ah threw it, it intervened between him and the water. He said, "O Allah, his thirst! O Allah, his thirst!" Then, those who witnessed him dying, told me, he was crying out from the heat in his belly and the cold on his back, with fans and snow before him and a brazier behind him, saying: "Give me something to drink; thirst is destroying me!" He would be brought a large container (ghas) with sawiq, or water and milk in it, enough to satisfy five if they drank it. He would drink it, then return to say: "Give me something to drink; thirst is destroying me!" Then his belly would be seen swelling like that of a camel in heat.

59 - Ishaq ibn Isma'il narrated to us, saying: Sufyan narrated to me that my grandmother, Umm Abi, said: "I witnessed two men among those who witnessed the killing of Hussein. One of them was often mentioned at length until he was wrapped in it, and the other would confront the narrator and drink from the account until he reached the last drop." Sufyan added: "I saw the son of one of them, either in a state of madness or something similar."
