from Husayn ibn Ali, who said: "I climbed up to Umar ibn al-Khattab and said to him: 'Descend from the pulpit of my father and ascend the pulpit of your father.'" Umar replied, "My father did not have a pulpit." He then sat me down with him, and when he descended, he took me to his home and said to me: "O my son, who taught you this?" I said: "No one taught me." He said: "O my son, you should come to us and visit us." I went to him one day, and he was alone with Mu'awiya, and Ibn Umar was at the door, not being given permission to enter. So I returned, and he met me later and said: "O my son, I did not see you coming to us." I replied: "I came, and you were alone with Mu'awiya." I saw Ibn Umar return, so I returned." He said: "You are more deserving of permission than Abdullah ibn Umar. What has sprouted in our heads, as you see, is only what Allah and then you are responsible for."

Husayn ibn Ali told me: "I passed by Umar ibn al-Khattab while he was on the pulpit, and I climbed up to him and said: 'Descend from the pulpit of my father and go to the pulpit of your father.'" Umar replied, "My father did not have a pulpit," and he took me and sat me with him. I began to play with the pebbles in my hand, and when he descended, he went with me to his home and said to me: "Who taught you this?" I replied: "By Allah, no one taught me." He said: "O my son, you should come to us." I went to him one day, and he was alone with Mu'awiya, and Ibn Umar was at the door. Ibn Umar returned, and I returned with him. He met me later and said: "I did not see you coming to us." I said: "O Commander of the Faithful, I came, and you were alone with Mu'awiya and Ibn Umar at the door." Ibn Umar returned, and I returned with him." He said: "You are more deserving of permission than Ibn Umar. What has sprouted in our heads, as you see, is only what Allah and then you are responsible for."
