- .... The Imamate agreed that the forefathers of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) from Adam to Abdullah ibn Abd al-Muttalib were believers in Allah - Exalted and Glorified be He - and monotheists to Him. They supported this with the Quran and narrations. Allah, Exalted and Glorified be He, said: {The One who sees you when you rise @ and your turning among those who prostrate (Surah Ash-Shu'ara, 26:218-219)}. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "He has never ceased to transfer me from the loins of the pure to the wombs of the purified until He brought me forth in this world of yours." They also unanimously agreed that his uncle Abu Talib (may Allah have mercy on him) died a believer, and that Aminah bint Wahb was a monotheist and would be resurrected among the believers. All the sects we mentioned at the beginning disagreed with them on this belief.

- .... Allah, the Exalted, said: {The One who sees you when you stand up @ and your movements among those who prostrate}(Ash-Shu'ara: 218-219),} meaning His transfer in the loins of the Monotheists. And His Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "I continued to be transferred from the loins of the pure to the wombs of the purified until God, the Exalted, brought me forth in this world of yours." This indicates that all His forefathers were believers.

- .... Al-Imam al-Razi said in his Tafsir: The Shia said that neither of the Prophet's (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) parents were unbelievers, and they denied that it could be said that Ibrahim's (peace be upon him) father was an unbeliever. They mentioned that Azar was the uncle of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) and supported their statement with several arguments: The first is that the ancestors of our Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) were not unbelievers, and this is supported by several points, including Allah's Almighty statement: {Indeed, you are in our eyes, O Muhammad, and it is He who sees you when you stand and your turning among those who prostrate} (Surah Ash-Shu'ara 26:218-219). It was said that this means He was transferring his spirit from one who prostrates to another. In this case, the verse indicates that all the ancestors of Muhammad (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) were Muslims, thus it must be concluded that Ibrahim's father was a Muslim, and this supports the idea that none of Muhammad's (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) ancestors were among the polytheists.

- .... In al-Majma', he said about al-Zajjaj: "There is no disagreement among the genealogists that the name of Abraham's father was Tarakh." He said: "This strengthens what our companions said, that Azar was either Abraham's (peace be upon him) maternal grandfather or his uncle, as it was established for them that the prophets' (peace be upon them) ancestors up to Adam (peace be upon him) were all monotheists. The community agreed on this and narrated from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) that he said: 'Allah, the Exalted, continuously transferred me from the loins of the pure to the wombs of the purified until He brought me forth in this world of yours, untainted by the impurities of ignorance (Jahiliyyah).' And if there had been a disbeliever among his ancestors, He would not have described all of them with purity, especially with His saying: {Indeed, the polytheists are impure} (Surah At-Tawbah 9:28).

3 - .... And there are various Islamic narrations that confirm this matter. It is mentioned in a well-known hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) that he said: "Allah has always transferred me from the loins of the pure to the wombs of the purified, until He brought me forth in this world of yours, not having contaminated me with the impurities of ignorance." There is no doubt that the most repulsive impurities of ignorance are polytheism and the worship of idols. As for those who assert that the most repulsive is adultery, there is no evidence to support their claim, especially since the Qur'an says: {Indeed, the polytheists are unclean.} (Surah At-Tawbah 9:28) (1).
