And he narrated from Sufyan ibn Uyayna who said: "No one from the descendants of Ishmael worshipped idols, due to his statement: {And keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols" (Ibrahim 14:35)}. It was said: 'How is it that the descendants of Isaac and the rest of the descendants of Abraham did not also worship idols?' He replied: 'He prayed for the people of this city not to worship idols and prayed for them for safety,' and then he said: {Make this city safe" (Ibrahim 14:35)}. - .... {My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and many from my descendants} (Ibrahim 14:40) This phrase indicates that "many from my descendants" is connected to what is stipulated in 'make me,' and it is only "many" because it is known through the signs of God that there will be unbelievers in his descendants. Ibn Abbas (may he be pleased with him) said: "There will always be some of the descendants of Ibrahim on the natural human disposition (fitrah) until the Hour is established."
