- .... And he narrated from Sufyan ibn Uyayna who said: "No one among the descendants of Isma'il ever worshipped idols, due to his statement: {And keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols} (Ibrahim 14:35). It was said, 'How is it that the descendants of Isaac and the rest of Abraham's offspring did not do the same?' He replied, 'Because he prayed for the people of this city not to worship idols and prayed for them to be safe.' So he said: {Make this city safe} (Ibrahim 14:35). And he did not pray that for all cities. Furthermore, he said: {And keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols} (Ibrahim 14:35) regarding it, and he specifically targeted its people."

- .... {My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and many from my descendants} (Ibrahim 14:40) {And some of my descendants} is an addition to what is specified in "make me," and it is only "some" because it is known by the signs of Allah that there will be non-believers in his descendants. Ibn Abbas (may he be pleased with him) said: "There will continue to be some of the descendants of Ibrahim on the natural religion until the Hour is established."
