6976 - Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Salam narrated to us, saying: Abd al-Rahman ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, saying: Al-Walid ibn Muslim and Umar ibn Abd al-Wahid both said: Al-Awza'i narrated to us, from Shaddad Abi Ammar, from Wathila ibn al-Asqa', who said: I asked about Ali in his home, and it was said to me, "He has gone to bring the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)." When he came, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) entered, and I entered
with him. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sat on the bed and seated Fatimah to his right, and Ali to his left, with Hasan and Husayn between his hands, and he said: {Indeed, Allah only wishes to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to make you pure, with a thorough purifying} (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33).
O Allah, these are my family." Wathila said: So I said from the corner of the house, "And I, O Messenger of Allah, am I not one of your family?" He replied, "You are also from my family." Wathila said: This is certainly one of the most hopeful things I could hope for.
