5704 - .... Ahmad and al-Nasa'i narrated from the route of 'Amr ibn Maymun: I was sitting with Ibn Abbas when seven men came to him and he mentioned a story in which it was said that he had come, shaking off his robe, and he said: "They attacked a man of honor, and the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: 'I will send a man whom Allah will not disgrace, who loves Allah and His Messenger.'" Then he came, he was eye-bleary, and he spurted into his eyes, then shook the flag three times and gave it to him. He came with Safiyya bint Huyayy and he sent him to recite Surah Bara'ah (Chapter 9) to the Quraysh, saying: "No one will go except a man from me and I am from him." He said to his cousins: "Which of you will be my supporter in this world and the Hereafter?" They all refused, so Ali said: "I will," and he said: "He is my supporter in this world and the Hereafter."
And he took his cloak and placed it on Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn, and said: {Indeed, Allah intends to remove all impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to make you pure and holy} (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33).
