- Ibn Raydhah narrated to us, saying: Sulayman ibn Ahmad narrated to us, saying: Abu Khulifah narrated to us, saying: Abu al-Walid al-Tayalisi narrated to us, saying: Abd al-Hamid ibn Bahram
narrated to us, from Shahr, who said: I heard Umm Salamah say: Fatimah came one morning with a dish of thareed that she was carrying in a platter, and she placed it between his (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) hands. He then said to her: Where is your cousin (husband)? She replied: He is in the house. He said: Call him and bring my son to me. She said: So she came, leading her two sons, each one by the hand, and Ali was walking behind her until they entered upon Rasulullah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). He seated them in his lap, and Ali sat on his right, while Fatimah sat on his left. Umm Salamah said: I took a mantle that was under me, a blanket from our bedding in the house, and a pot containing a stew, and they sat eating from that pot while I was praying in that chamber. Then this verse was revealed: {Indeed, Allah only wishes to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to make you pure and spotless} (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33). She continued: Then he took the edge of the mantle and covered them, and then he extended his right hand out from the mantle and raised it towards the sky, and said: O Allah, these are the People of my House and my protectors. She said: So I inserted my head and said: O Messenger of Allah, am I not with you? He replied: You are destined for goodness twice. Al-Tirmidhi narrated it briefly and authenticated it through the chain of al-Thawri from Zubaid, from Shahr ibn Hushab.
