Ibn al-Athir - Asad al-Ghabah fi Ma'rifat al-Sahabah

- .... He said: Muhammad ibn Isa told us, Qutaybah ibn Sa'id told us, Muhammad ibn Sulayman al-Isfahani told us, from Yahya ibn Ubayd, from Ata' from Umar ibn Abi Salamah, the stepchild of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), who said: This verse was revealed to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny): {Allah only intends to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to make you pure and holy} (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33) in the house of Umm Salamah. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) called Fatimah, Hassan, and Hussain and covered them with a cloak, with Ali standing behind him. He then said: "These are my Ahl al-Bayt; Allah has removed the impurity from them and made them pure and holy." Umm Salamah said: "And am I not with them, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied: "You are in your place; you are destined for goodness."

- .... And when Al-Hasan pledged allegiance to Muawiya, he addressed the people before Muawiya's entry into Kufa and said: "O people, we are only your leaders and guests, and we are the Ahlul Bayt of your Prophet, from whom Allah has removed impurity and purified completely." He repeated this until nothing remained but those who were weeping, and his lamentation could be heard ....

- .... Al-Awza'i narrated from Shaddad ibn Abdullah, who said: "Did you hear Wathila ibn al-Asqa' when the head of al-Husayn was brought to him? A man from the people of Syria cursed him and cursed his father. Wathila stood up and said: 'By Allah, I will not cease to love Ali, al-Hasan, al-Husayn, and Fatimah after what I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say about them: what he said: 'I saw myself one day when I had come to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) in the house of Umm Salamah. Al-Hasan came and he seated him on his right thigh and kissed him. Then al-Husayn came and he seated him on his left thigh and kissed him. Then Fatimah came and he seated her before him, and then he called for Ali. Then he said: {Indeed, Allah only wishes to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to make you pure and spotless} (Surah al-Ahzab 33:33).' I said to Wathila: 'What is the impurity?' He replied: 'Doubt in Allah, the Almighty.'" Abu Ahmad al-‘Askari said: It is said that al-Awza'i did not narrate any other hadith in the virtues (of the Ahl al-Bayt) except this, and Allah knows best.

- .... Al-Isma'ili included him among the companions and narrated with his chain from Umair ibn Abi Urfajah from Atiyah, who said: The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) entered upon Fatimah while she was preparing a porridge, and he sat down until she finished it, and with her were Hasan and Husayn. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "Send for Ali." So Ali came, and they all ate together. Then he took a mat they had been sitting on and covered them with it, and said: "O Allah, these are my Ahlul Bayt; remove the impurity from them and make them thoroughly pure." Umm Salamah heard this and said: "O Messenger of Allah, am I not with them?" He replied: "You are on the right path." Abu Musa narrated this.

- .... Abu al-Fadl al-Faqih al-Mukhzumi narrated to us, with his chain of narration going back to Ahmad ibn Ali, who said: Abu Khaythamah narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Asadi narrated to us, saying: Sufyan narrated to us, from Zubaid, from Shaher ibn Hushab from Umm Salamah: that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) enveloped Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn in a cloak and then said: "O Allah, these are my Ahl al-Bayt and my chosen ones. O Allah, remove from them any impurity and purify them thoroughly." Umm Salamah said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah, am I not one of them?" He replied, "You are on the path to goodness."

Abu Ishaq al-Sabi'i narrated from Abu Dawood al-Qass from Abu al-Hamra' who said: "I stayed in the city for a month, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) would come to the house of Fatimah and Ali every morning and say, 'Prayer, prayer': {Indeed, Allah only wishes to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah al-Ahzab 33:33)." And Allah knows best. Abu Umar and Abu Musa narrated this as well ....

- Abu al-Hamra: Mawla of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). It is said that his name was Hilal ibn al-Harith, and it is also said: Hilal ibn Dhafar. Abi Dawood narrated from him that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) would pass by the house of Ali and Fatimah (peace be upon them) when dawn broke and say: "Peace be upon you, O people of the house! Prayer, prayer!":{ "Indeed, Allah only intends to remove the impurity from you, O people of the Prophet's House, and to purify you with a thorough purification" (Surah al-Ahzab 33:33)} The three (scholars) narrated this.

Abu Muhammad Abdullah ibn Suwayda narrated to us, saying: Abu al-Fadl ibn Nasir al-Salamiyya narrated to us, saying: Abu Salih Ahmad ibn Abd al-Malik ibn Ali al-Mu'adhdhin narrated to us, saying: al-Hakim Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Muhammad al-Hafiz and the Qadi Abu Bakr al-Hayriri both said: Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, saying: al-Hasan ibn Makram narrated to us, saying: Uthman ibn Umar narrated to us, saying: Abd al-Rahman ibn Abdullah narrated to us, from Sharik ibn Abdullah ibn Abi Numayr, from Ata ibn Yasar from Um Salamah, who said: "The verse:{ Indeed, Allah only intends to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to make you pure and spotless }(Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33) was revealed in my house." She continued: "Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sent for Fatimah, Ali, Hasan, and Husayn and said: 'These are my family.'" She said, so I said, "O Messenger of Allah, am I not part of the People of the House?" He replied: "Yes, you are, inshaAllah, the Almighty." Abu Salih said: Al-Hakim said in the Mustadrak, from al-Asamm, who said: "This is sahih (authentic) according to the criterion of Muslim, but they did not include it."

Abu Salih narrated to us, saying: Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Ahmad al-Ahwazi narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Ubayd ibn Isma'il al-Saffar narrated to us, saying: Tamam ibn Muhammad ibn Ghalib narrated to us, saying: Musa ibn Isma'il narrated to us, saying: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Ali ibn Zayd from Anas ibn Malik that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) would pass by Fatimah's house for six months. Whenever he went out for the Fajr prayer, he would say: "Prayer, O People of Muhammad's House":{ Indeed, Allah only intends to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to make you pure and spotless }(Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33).

Arsalan ibn Yaghan Abu Muhammad al-Sufi narrated to us, saying: Abu al-Fadl ibn Tahir ibn Said ibn Abi Said al-Mihrani al-Sufi narrated to us, saying: Abu Bakr ibn Ahmad ibn Ali ibn Khalaf narrated to us, saying: al-Hakim Abu Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Abdullah narrated to us, saying: Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub al-Asamm narrated to us, saying: al-Hasan ibn Makram narrated to us, saying: Uthman ibn Umar narrated to us, saying: Abd al-Rahman ibn Abdullah ibn Dinar narrated to us, from Sharik ibn Abi Numayr, from Ata ibn Yasar from Umm Salamah, who said: "The verse: {Indeed, Allah only wishes to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to make you pure and holy" (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33) was revealed in my house." She said: So I said, "O Messenger of Allah, am I not of the family?" He said: "Yes, you are, by the will of Allah," and he included her with the three.
