Remove the impurity from them and purify them with a thorough purification," he said this three times. - .... And al-Tabarani narrated from Umm Salamah that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said to Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her): "Bring me your husband and your two sons." So she brought them to him, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) threw a Fadakian cloak over them. Then he placed his hand upon them and said: "O Allah, these are the family of Muhammad," and in another wording, the Ahlul Bayt of Muhammad. "So may Your prayers and blessings be upon the Ahlul Bayt of Muhammad, just as You granted them to the Ahlul Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious." Umm Salamah said: So I lifted the cloak to enter with them, but he pulled it from my hands and said: "You are upon goodness."
- .... And Ibn Marduyah narrated from Umm Salamah, who said: This verse was revealed in my house: {Indeed, Allah intends to remove the impurity from you, O people of the Prophet's household, and to make you pure and holy} (Surah al-Ahzab 33:33). And in the house were seven: Gabriel and Michael, and Ali, Fatimah, and their two sons, Hasan and Husayn. I was at the door of the house and said: "O Messenger of Allah, are you not one of the people of the household?" He replied: "You are on goodness; you are one of the wives of the Prophet."
- .... And Ibn Marduyah and al-Khatib narrated from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: The day Umm Salamah, the Mother of the Believers, was in charge, Gabriel (peace be upon him) descended upon the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) with this verse: {Indeed, Allah intends to remove the impurity from you, O people of the Prophet's household, and to make you pure and holy} (Surah al-Ahzab 33:33). He then called for Hasan and Husayn, Fatimah, and Ali, and gathered them to him, spreading a cloth over them, while a veil was raised over Umm Salamah. He then said: "O Allah, these are my family. O Allah, remove the impurity from them and make them pure and holy." Umm Salamah said: "Am I not with them, O Prophet of Allah?" He replied: "You are in your place, and you are upon goodness."

And in the house were Fatimah, Ali, Hasan, and Husayn, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) covered them with a cloak that was on him, then said: "These are my family. Remove the impurity from them and make them pure and holy."
- .... And Ibn Jarir, Ibn Abi Hatim, and al-Tabarani narrated from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "This verse was revealed concerning five: me, Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn" {Indeed, Allah intends to remove the impurity from you, O people of the Prophet's household, and to make you pure and holy} (Surah al-Ahzab 33:33).
- .... And Ibn Abi Shaybah, Ahmad, Muslim, Ibn Jarir, Ibn Abi Hatim, and al-Hakim narrated from Aisha, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) went out one morning, wearing a black woolen cloak, and both Hasan and Husayn came to him and he welcomed them in. Then Ali came and he welcomed him in, and then said: {Indeed, Allah intends to remove the impurity from you, O people of the Prophet's household, and to make you pure and holy} (Surah al-Ahzab 33:33).
- .... And Ibn Jarir, al-Hakim, and Ibn Marduyah narrated from Sa'd, who said: Revelation came down upon the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and he brought Ali, Fatimah, and their two children under his cloak, and then said: "O Allah, these are my family and the people of my house."

- .... Ibn Abi Shaybah, Ahmad, Ibn Jarir, Ibn Mundhir, Ibn Abi Hatim, al-Tabarani, and al-Hakim narrated, and al-Hakim declared it authentic, as well as al-Bayhaqi in his Sunan from Wathilah ibn al-Asqع who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) came to Fatimah, accompanied by Hasan, Husayn, and Ali, until he entered and brought Ali and Fatimah close, seating them between his hands. He then seated Hasan and Husayn, each on his thigh, and wrapped his cloak around them, as he sat with his back to them, then recited this verse: {Indeed, Allah only intends to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah al-Ahzab 33:33).
- .... Ibn Abi Shaybah, Ahmad, al-Tirmidhi, who regarded it as good, Ibn Jarir, Ibn Mundhir, al-Tabarani, al-Hakim, who declared it authentic, and Ibn Marduyah narrated from Anas who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) would pass by Fatimah's door when he went out for the Fajr prayer and say: Prayer, O People of the Prophet's House! Prayer! {Indeed, Allah only intends to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah al-Ahzab 33:33).
- .... Al-Hakim al-Tirmidhi, al-Tabarani, Ibn Marduyah, Abu Nu'aim, and al-Bayhaqi all narrated in their respective works on proofs (dalail) from Ibn Abbas who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "Indeed, Allah divided creation into two parts and made me in the better of the two parts." So that is His saying: {And the companions of the right, and the companions of the left.} (Surah al-Ghafir 40:41) I am from the companions of the right; I am the best of the companions of the right. Then He made the two parts into three. He made me in the better of the three parts." So that is His saying: {{So the companions of the right—what are the companions of the right?} (Surah al-Waqi'ah 56:8) and {And the foremost, the foremost} (Surah al-Waqi'ah 56:10). I am among the foremost; I am the best of the foremost. Then He made the three into tribes and made me in the best of the tribes." That is His saying: {{And We made you into nations and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most honorable of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you.} (Surah al-Hujurat 49:13) I am the most righteous of the children of Adam and the most honorable before Allah, the Exalted, without pride." Then He made the tribes into houses and made me in the best of the houses." That is His saying: {Indeed, Allah only intends to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah al-Ahzab 33:33), so I and my family are purified from sins.
- .... Ibn Jarir and Ibn Abi Hatim narrated from Qatadah regarding Allah's statement: {Indeed, Allah only intends to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah al-Ahzab 33:33) who said: They are the People of the House whom Allah purified from evil and chose for His mercy. Qatadah also informed Dhuhak ibn Muzahim that the Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) would say: "We are the People of the House whom Allah purified from the tree of prophethood, the place of messengership, the meeting of angels, the House of Mercy, and the repository of knowledge."
- .... Ibn Marduyah narrated from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri who said: When Ali (peace be upon him) entered with Fatimah (peace be upon her) the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) came to their door for forty mornings, saying: Peace be upon you, O People of the House, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings! Prayer, may Allah have mercy on you! {Indeed, Allah only intends to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah al-Ahzab 33:33). I am at war with those who wage war on you, and I am at peace with those who are at peace with you.
- .... Ibn Jarir and Ibn Marduyah narrated from Abu al-Humaira who said: I memorized from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) for eight months in Medina, and not a single time did he go out to the Fajr prayer without coming to the door of Ali (peace be upon him) and placing his hand on the sides of the door, then saying: Prayer, prayer! {Indeed, Allah only intends to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah al-Ahzab 33:33).
- .... Ibn Marduyah narrated from Ibn Abbas who said: We witnessed the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) for nine months coming every day to the door of Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) at the time of each prayer and saying: Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings, O People of the House! {Indeed, Allah only intends to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah al-Ahzab 33:33). Prayer, may Allah have mercy on you, five times a day.
- .... Al-Tabarani narrated from Abu al-Humaira who said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) come to the door of Ali and Fatimah for six months and say: {Indeed, Allah only intends to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah al-Ahzab 33:33).
