Volume: (2) - Page Number: (65 / 67 / 69 / 71)
- He also narrated it in the interpretation of Surah Al-Ahzab from the book (Tafsir from al-Mustadrak: Vol. 2, p. 416) where he said: Abu al-Abbas Muhammad ibn Ya'qub narrated to us, saying: Al-Abbas ibn al-Walid ibn Mazid informed me, quoting my father, who said: I heard al-Awza'i say that Abu Ammar narrated to him, from Wathila ibn al-Asqa' (ra), that he came to Ali (ra) but did not find him.
Fatimah (ra) said, "Go to the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) and ask him to come." So I went and sat down. Then Ali came with the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) and entered, and I entered with them. Then the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) called for Hasan and Husayn and seated each of them on his thigh, bringing Fatimah close to his lap and her husband, and then he wrapped them in his cloak while I watched, saying:
{Indeed, Allah only wishes to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33). O Allah, these are the People of my House." Then al-Hakim said: This is a sahih hadith according to the criteria of Muslim, though both he and Bukhari did not narrate it.
- Abu Sa'd al-Sa'di narrated to us, saying: Abu Bakr ibn Malik al-Qutti'i narrated to us, saying: Abdullah ibn Ahmad ibn Hanbal narrated to us, saying: My father narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Mus'ab narrated to us, saying: Al-Awza'i narrated to us from Shu'dad Abu Ammar, who said: I entered upon Wathila while he was with a group of people, and they were mentioning Ali, speaking ill of him. So I joined them in speaking ill of him. When they stood up, he said: "You spoke ill of this man." I said: "I saw the people speaking ill of him, so I spoke ill of him too." He said: "Shall I not tell you what I saw from the Messenger of Allah?" I said: "Yes." He said: "I went to Fatimah to ask her about Ali,
and she said, 'He has gone to the Messenger of Allah (pbuh).' So I sat down to wait for him until the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) came, accompanied by Ali, Hasan, and Husayn, each holding his hand. They entered, and the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) brought Ali and Fatimah close, seating them between him and then placing Hasan and Husayn, one on each of his thighs. Then he wrapped them all in his cloak or shawl and recited this verse: {Indeed, Allah only wishes to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33).
Then he said: 'O Allah, these are the People of my House, and the People of my House are more deserving.'"695 - Mas'ud ibn Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn al-Hasan al-Jurjani narrated to us, saying: Ibrahim ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Raja narrated to us, and Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman al-Ghazzi narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Qadi narrated to us, saying: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Dawud narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Umar ibn Yunus al-Hanafi narrated to us, saying: Umar ibn Yunus narrated to us, saying: Sulayman ibn Abi Sulayman al-Zuhri narrated to us, saying: Yahya ibn Abi Kathir narrated to us, saying: Abd al-Rahman ibn Amr narrated to us, saying: Shu'dad ibn Abd Allah Abu Ammar narrated to us, from Wathila ibn al-Asqa', who said: "By Allah, I will continue to love Ali, Hasan, Husayn, and Fatimah after I heard the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) say what he said about them."
And I indeed saw myself one day when I came to the Messenger of Allah in the house of Umm Salamah. Hasan came and he seated him on his right thigh, then Husayn came and he seated him on his left thigh, kissing them both. Then Fatimah came and he seated her between his hands, and he called for Ali, covering them with a Khaybari cloak. I feel like I can see it. Then he said: {Indeed, Allah only wishes to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33). I said to Wathila: "What is the impurity?" He replied: "Doubt in the religion of Allah."
- From Shu'dad Abu Ammar
from Wathila ibn al-Asqa', who said: I went to the house of Ali ibn Abi Talib seeking him, and Fatimah said: "He has gone to get the Messenger of Allah (pbuh)." Then the Prophet (pbuh) came, and they both entered the house, and I entered with them. The Prophet sat on the bed, Ali sat on his right, Fatimah on his left, and Hasan and Husayn between his hands. Then he took a cloak and spread it over them, and said: {Indeed, Allah only wishes to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33). Then he said: "O Allah, these are my family. O Allah, these are my family." And he added: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, am I one of your family?" He replied: "And you are one of my family." He said: "This is indeed one of the most comforting things I hope for."
