1587 - Ibn Abi Dawud also narrated to us, saying: Suleiman ibn Dawud al-Mahri narrated to us, saying: Abdullah ibn Wahb narrated to us, saying: Abu Sakhr narrated to us, from Abu Muawiyah al-Bajjali, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Abu al-Suhba', from Umrah al-Hamdaniyyah, who said: Umrah al-Hamdaniyyah said to me: Umm Salamah said: "You are Umrah." I said: "Yes, O my mother! Will you not tell me about this man who was struck down among us, both by friend and foe?"
Umm Salamah replied: Allah, the Almighty, revealed: {Indeed, Allah only wishes to remove the impurity from you, O people of the Prophet's household, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah al-Ahzab 33:33),
and there was none in the house except Gabriel, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), Ali, Fatimah, and their sons, Hasan and Husayn (peace be upon them all). So I said, "O Messenger of Allah, am I not from the People of the Household?" He replied, "You are from the righteous among my women." Umm Salamah continued: "O Umrah, if he had said, 'Yes,' it would have been dearer to me than anything the sun rises and sets upon."
