1488 - Abu Bakr ibn Abi Dawud also narrated to us, saying: Ishaq ibn Ibrahim al-Nahshali narrated to us, saying: Yahya ibn Hammad narrated to us, who said: Abu 'Awaneq narrated to us, saying: .... And the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) took his robe and placed it over Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn (peace be upon them), and then said: {Indeed, Allah only wishes to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah al-Ahzab 33:33) ....

1587 - Ibn Abi Dawud also narrated to us, saying: Suleiman ibn Dawud al-Mahri narrated to us, saying: Abdullah ibn Wahb narrated to us, saying: Abu Sakhr narrated to us, from Abu Muawiyah al-Bajjali, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Abu al-Suhba', from Umrah al-Hamdaniyyah, who said: Umrah al-Hamdaniyyah said to me: Umm Salamah said: "You are Umrah." I said: "Yes, O my mother! Will you not tell me about this man who was struck down among us, both by friend and foe?" Umm Salamah replied: Allah, the Almighty, revealed: {Indeed, Allah only wishes to remove the impurity from you, O people of the Prophet's household, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah al-Ahzab 33:33), and there was none in the house except Gabriel, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), Ali, Fatimah, and their sons, Hasan and Husayn (peace be upon them all). So I said, "O Messenger of Allah, am I not from the People of the Household?" He replied, "You are from the righteous among my women." Umm Salamah continued: "O Umrah, if he had said, 'Yes,' it would have been dearer to me than anything the sun rises and sets upon."

1693 - Abu Bakr Ja'far ibn Muhammad al-Firyabi narrated to us, saying: Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Bashar narrated to us, saying: Zakariya ibn Abi Zaa'idah narrated to us, saying: Mus'ab ibn Shaybah narrated to us, from Safiyyah, the daughter of Shaybah, who said: Safiyyah, the daughter of Shaybah, said: A'ishah, may Allah have mercy on her, said: The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) went out one morning wearing a black, woolen cloak with a striped pattern, and Hasan (peace be upon him) came and entered with him. Then Husayn (peace be upon him) came and he entered with him. Then Fatimah (peace be upon her) came, and he admitted her as well. Finally, Ali (peace be upon him) came, and he also admitted him, and then he said: {Indeed, Allah only wishes to remove the impurity from you, O Ahl al-Bayt, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33).

1694 - And Abu Muhammad Abdullah ibn Salih al-Bukhari narrated to us, saying: Al-Walid ibn Shuja' narrated to us, saying: Yahya ibn Zakariya ibn Abi Za'ida narrated to us, from his father, from Mus'ab ibn Shaybah, from Safiyyah bint Shaybah al-Hujbiyyah from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) who said:One morning, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) went out wearing a tanned woolen cloak made of black hair. He sat down, and Fatimah (peace be upon her) came to him and he tucked her into it. Then Ali came, and he tucked him into it as well. Then Hasan (peace be upon him) came, and he tucked him into it. Then Husayn (peace be upon him) came, and he tucked him in too. Then he said:{Indeed, Allah only intends to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33).

1695 - And Abu Muhammad Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Najiyah informed us, saying: Ammar ibn Khalid al-Tammar informed us, saying: Ishaq ibn Yusuf al-Azraq narrated to us, saying: Abdul Malik ibn Abi Suleiman narrated to us, from Abu Layla al-Kindi, from Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was in her house on a resting place with a Khaybari cloak underneath him when Fatimah (peace be upon her) came with a large bowl containing stew. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "Call your husband and your two sons, Hasan and Husayn." So she called them. While they were eating, the following revelation descended upon the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny): {Allah only wishes to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33). The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) then took the cloak and covered them with it, and said: "O Allah, these are the People of my House and my protection. Remove the impurity from them and purify them with a thorough purification."

1696 - Abu Shu'aib Abdullah ibn al-Hasan al-Hurrani narrated to us, saying: Abdulaziz ibn Dawud al-Hurrani narrated to us, saying: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Ali ibn Zayd, from Shahr ibn Hushab, from Umm Salamah, may Allah have mercy on her, that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said to Fatimah (peace be upon her): "Bring me your husband and your two sons." So she (peace be upon her) brought them to him, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) draped a Fadaki cloak over them and then placed his hand upon them and said: "O Allah, these are the family of Muhammad. Send Your blessings and Your peace upon the family of Muhammad. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy and Glorious." Umm Salamah said: Then I raised the cloak to enter with them, but the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) pulled it from my hands and said: "You are upon goodness."

Al-Ajri - Al-Shari'ah - Jami' Fada'il Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) - Chapter on the Mention of Allah, the Almighty and Glorious, Statement:
{Indeed, Allah only wishes to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to make you pure and wholesome} (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33)

1697 - And Abu Muhammad Abdullah ibn Salih al-Bukhari narrated to us, saying: Ibn Ali al-Halwani narrated to us, saying: Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, saying: Abdul Malik ibn Abi Sulayman narrated to us, from Ata, from Umm Salamah, and from Dawud ibn Abi Awf, from Shahri ibn Hushab, from Umm Salamah, and from Abi Layla al-Kindi, from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her): While the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was in my house on a bedding of his, covered with a Khaybari cloak, Fatimah (peace be upon her) came to him with a large bowl containing stew. The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said to her: Call your husband and your two sons. She said: So she called them, and they all gathered around that bowl, eating from it. Then the verse was revealed: {Indeed, Allah only wishes to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to make you pure and wholesome} (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33). The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) took the edge of the cloak and covered them with it, then he raised his hand and, with it, pointed toward the sky, and said: O Allah, these are the People of my House and my protection. Remove the impurity from them and make them pure and wholesome. She said: So I put my head into the garment and said: O Messenger of Allah, am I with you? He replied: You are on the path to goodness, you are on the path to goodness. She said: And they were five: the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn (peace be upon them all).

1698 - And Ibn Abi Dawud narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Umar ibn Yunus narrated to us, from Umar ibn Yunus, who said: Sulayman ibn Abi Sulayman al-Zuhri narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, who said: Al-Awza'i narrated to us, from Shaddad ibn Abdullah, who said: I heard Wathila ibn al-Asqaq being brought the head of Hussein (peace be upon him), and when a man mentioned him, Wathila became angry and said: By Allah, I will never cease to love Ali, Hasan, Hussein, and Fatimah (peace be upon them) forever after this, having heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) in the house of Umm Salamah say about them. Wathila then said: I saw myself one day having come to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) in the house of Umm Salamah, and Hasan entered. He seated him on his right thigh and kissed him. Then Hussein came, and he seated him on his left thigh and kissed him. Then Fatimah came, and he seated her between his hands. Then he called for Ali (peace be upon him), and he came. Then he draped over them a Khaybari cloak, as if I were seeing it, and said: {Indeed, Allah only wishes to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's Household, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33). I said to Wathila, "What is the impurity?" He said: "Doubt in Allah, the Mighty and Majestic be He."

1699 - Ibn Abi Dawud narrated to us, who said: Ibn Abi Ayyub and Muhammad ibn Abd al-Malik al-Wasitians narrated to us, both said: Abd al-Rahim ibn Harun narrated to us, who said: Harun ibn Sa'd al-Ajili narrated to us, from Atiyyah al-‘Awfi, who said: I asked Abu Sa'id al-Khudri about the Ahl al-Bayt:
{Indeed, Allah only intends to remove the impurity from you, O Ahl al-Bayt, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33) and he said: "The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn (peace be upon them all)."
