- .... Who are the People of the House whom Allah, the Exalted, praised in His Noble Book with His statement, Mighty is He who speaks: {Indeed, Allah only intends to remove the impurity from you, O People of the House, and to make you pure and spotless} (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33). Al-Alusi said in his Tafsir: Al-Tirmidhi and al-Hakim narrated this, and they both authenticated it, as did Ibn Jarir, Ibn al-Mundhir, Ibn Marduyah, and al-Bayhaqi in his Sunan from Um Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) through various chains, who said: This was revealed in my house: {Indeed, Allah only intends to remove the impurity from you, O People of the House, and to make you pure and spotless} (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33). And in the house were Fatimah, Ali, Hasan, and Husayn, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) covered them with a cloak he had on, and then said: These are my People of the House; thus, He has removed the impurity from them and made them pure and spotless. Then he said: And there is a narration narrated by al-Tabarani from Um Salama, in which she said: So I raised the cloak to enter with them, but he (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) pulled it away from my hands and said: You are on what is good.

- .... And Waila ibn al-Asqa' (ra) said: I came seeking Ali (ra) but did not find him. Then Fatimah (ra) said: Go to the Messenger of Allah (sa) and ask him to call him. So I went and sat down, and he came with the Messenger of Allah (sa), and they entered, and I entered with them. Then the Messenger of Allah (sa) called Hasan and Husayn and seated each of them on his thigh, bringing Fatimah closer to his lap and her husband. Then he wrapped them all in his robe, and he was still addressing them, saying: {Indeed, Allah only wishes to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet's House, and to purify you with a thorough purification} (Surah Al-Ahzab 33:33) O Allah, these are my family. Allah, this is the truth! Waila said: I said, O Messenger of Allah, am I not one of your family? He said: You are one of my family. Waila said: This is one of the most hopeful things I hope for. Al-Bayhaqi said: This is a sound chain of narration.

As for the Hadith of Um Salamah, Tirmidhi narrated it in the chapter on the Virtue of Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), and there is also a similar narration from Aisha, which Muslim narrated from her.
