- Abu al-Husayn ibn Bushran al-'Adl informed us in Baghdad, saying: Abu Ali Isma'il ibn Muhammad al-Saffar narrated to us, saying: al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Affan narrated to us, saying: Abu Usamah narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from Abd al-Malik ibn Maysarah, from Tawus,
from Ibn Abbas regarding His saying, Almighty and Glorious be He: {Say, "I do not ask of you any reward for it except love for my near relatives" (Surah ash-Shura 42:23)}. He said: There was no tribe in Quraysh except that the Prophet (peace be upon him) had a relation to them.
Then he said: {Say, "I do not ask of you any reward for it except love for my near relatives" (Surah ash-Shura 42:23)}
He said: "Do not harm me concerning my relatives." He added that this verse was abrogated by the verse: "Say, Whatever reward I have asked of you is for you," and they both narrated it in the sahih from the hadith of Shu'bah.
