Al-Hakim al-Haskani - Shawahid al-Tanzil li-Qawaid al-Tafdeel

- .... from Abu Umamah al-Bahili, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "Indeed, Allah created the prophets from various trees and created me and Ali from one tree. I am its root, Ali is its branch, Hassan and Hussein are its fruits, and our followers are its leaves. Whoever clings to a branch of its branches will be saved, and whoever deviates will fall." And if a devotee were to worship Allah for a thousand years, then a thousand years, then a thousand years, and still not attain the love of us, the People of the House, Allah would throw him on his face in the Fire." Then he recited: {Say, "I do not ask you for it any reward, except the love of my relatives" } (Surah Ash-Shura 42:23).

822 - Al-Qadi Abu Bakr al-Hiri narrated to me, saying: Abu al-Abbas al-Sabghi informed us, saying: Al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Ziyad al-Sari narrated to us, saying: Yahmis ibn Abd al-Hamid al-Hamani narrated to us, saying: Husayn al-Ashqar narrated to us, who said: Qais narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Sa'id ibn Jubair from Ibn Abbas, who said: When the verse was revealed: {Say, "I do not ask of you any reward for it except love for my near relatives" (Surah ash-Shura 42:23)} they said, "O Messenger of Allah, who are these that Allah has commanded us to love?" He said, "Ali, Fatimah, and their children."

He also narrated it with his chain from Yahya Abu Na'im in his book: Ma Nazal min al-Quran fi Ali, who said: Abu Muhammad ibn Hayyan narrated to us, saying: Abu al-Jarud narrated to us, saying: Isma'il ibn Abdullah narrated to us, saying: Yahya narrated to us, from Husayn ibn al-Hasan, from Qais, from al-A'mash, from Sa'id ibn Jubair from Ibn Abbas, who said: When the verse was revealed: {Say, "I do not ask of you a reward for it except for love of my near relatives" (Surah Ash-Shura 42:23)} they said, "O Messenger of Allah, who are these relatives of whom Allah commanded us to love?" 825 - Narrated to us by Abu Abd Allah al-Shiraz i, who said: Abu Bakr al-Jarj ar ai narrated to us, and Abu Ahmad al-Basri narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Isa al-Wasiti and Ahmad ibn Ammar both said: Yahya al-Hamm ani narrated to us, who said: Hussain al-Ashqar narrated to us, from Qais ibn al-Ruba'i, from al-A'mash, from Sa'id, from Ibn Abbas, who said: When the verse was revealed: {Say, "I do not ask of you any reward for it except for love of my kin" (Surah Ash-Shura 42:23)}, they said, "O Messenger of Allah, who are these that Allah has commanded us to love?" He said, "Ali, Fatimah, and their children."

Al-Hafiz Ibn Marduyah also narrated it in his book Manaqib Ali (peace be upon him) with his chain of narration from Sa'id ibn Jubayr from Ibn Abbas, who said: When the statement of Allah, the Exalted, Almighty, was revealed,: {Say, "I do not ask of you a reward for it except for the love in kinship."} (Surah Ash-Shura 42:23), the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) was asked, "Who are these that we must love?" He replied, "Ali, Fatimah, and their two sons," repeating this three times.
- Abu al-Husayn Ahmad ibn Ali al-Tawzi al-Qadi narrated to us, reading to me in Baghdad, saying: Abu Ubaydullah Muhammad ibn Ubaydullah al-Marzubani narrated to us, saying: Abu Hafs Umar ibn Dawud ibn Unbasa, known as Ibn Bayan al-Omani, narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Isa al-Wasiti, Abu Bakr, narrated to us, saying: Yahya ibn Abd al-Hamid al-Hamani narrated to us, saying: al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan al-Ashqar narrated to us, from Qays ibn al-Rabi, from al-A'mash, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr from Ibn Abbas, who said: When the verse was revealed,: {Say, "I do not ask of you a reward for it except for the love in kinship."} (Surah Ash-Shura 42:23), they said, "O Messenger of Allah, who are these that Allah has commanded us to love?" He replied, "Fatimah and her children."
- Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, saying: A man whose name I do not remember narrated to us, from Husayn al-Ashqar, from Qays, from al-A'mash, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr from Ibn Abbas, who said: When this verse was revealed,: {Say, "I do not ask of you a reward for it except for the love in kinship."} (Surah Ash-Shura 42:23), they said, "O Messenger of Allah, who are these that Allah has commanded us to love?" He replied, "Fatimah and her children."

- Harb ibn al-Hasan al-Tahhan narrated to us, saying: Hussain al-Ashqar narrated to us from Qais, from al-A'mash, from Sa'id ibn Jubair from Ibn Abbas, who said: When the verse was revealed: {Say, "I do not ask of you for it any reward, except for the kinship (mawaddah) in closeness" (Surah Ash-Shura 42:23)} they said, "O Messenger of Allah, who are your relatives whose love has become obligatory upon us?" He said, "Ali, Fatimah, and their two sons." And Isma'ili mentioned, "and her two sons."
- Muhammad ibn Abdullah narrated to us, saying: Harb ibn al-Hasan al-Tahhan narrated to us, saying: Hussain al-Ashqar narrated to us from Qais ibn al-Rabi', from al-A'mash, from Sa'id ibn Jubair from Ibn Abbas, who said: When the verse was revealed: {Say, "I do not ask of you for it any reward, except for the kinship (mawaddah) in closeness" (Surah Ash-Shura 42:23)} they said, "O Messenger of Allah, who are these relatives of yours whose love has become obligatory upon us?" He said, "Ali, Fatimah, and their two sons (radhiyallahu 'anhum)."

And he also said: Al-Sayyid narrated to us: Abu al-Husayn Ahmad ibn al-Husayn ibn al-Tawzi al-Qadi, who heard it from me in Baghdad, saying: Abu Ubaydullah Muhammad ibn Imran al-Marzabani narrated to us, saying: Abu Hafs Umar ibn Dawud ibn Unbasa, known as Ibn Bayan al-Ommani, narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Isa al-Wasiti, Abu Bakr, narrated to us, saying: Yahya ibn Abdul-Hamid al-Hamani narrated to us, saying: Al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan al-Ashqar narrated to us, from Qays ibn al-Rubba, from al-A'mash, from Sa'id ibn Jubair from Ibn Abbas, who said: When the verse was revealed: {Say, "I do not ask of you for it any reward, except the love in kinship" (Surah Ash-Shura 42:23)} they said, "O Messenger of Allah, who are these that Allah, the Exalted, has commanded us to love?" He replied, "Fatimah and her children."

And in what Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Sulayman al-Hadhrami wrote to us, mentioning that Harb ibn al-Hasan al-Tahhan had informed them, he said: Al-Husayn al-Ashqar narrated to us from Qays, from al-A'mash, from Sa'id ibn Jubair from Ibn Abbas, who said: When the verse was revealed: (Say, "I do not ask of you for it any reward, except the love in kinship") (Surah Ash-Shura 42:23) they said, "O Messenger of Allah, who are your relatives whose love has become obligatory upon us?" He said, "Ali, Fatimah, and their two sons (Peace be upon them)."

828 - Al-Hakim Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz narrated to us - and this is in his own handwriting with me - saying: Mukhled ibn Ja'far al-Duqaq narrated to me, who said: Muhammad ibn Jarir al-Tabari narrated to me, who said: Al-Qasim ibn Isma'il Abu al-Mundhir narrated to me, and Hussein ibn Hasan al-Ashqar narrated to us from Qais ibn al-Rabi from al-A'mash from Sa'id ibn Jubayr from Ibn Abbas regarding His statement, Exalted is He: {Say, "I do not ask of you any reward for it except friendship in kinship."} (Surah Ash-Shura 42:23) he said, "It refers to Ali, Fatimah, and Hasan and Husayn."
- Abu Talib Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Uthman narrated to us, saying: Abu Muhammad Abdul Aziz ibn Abi Saber narrated to us with permission, saying: Ibrahim ibn Ishaq ibn Hashim narrated to us in Damascus, saying: Abdullah ibn Ja'far al-Askari narrated to us in al-Ruqah, saying: Yahya ibn Abd al-Hamid narrated to us, saying: Hussein al-Ashqar narrated to us from Qais from al-A'mash from Sa'id ibn Jubayr from Ibn Abbas who said, "When the verse was revealed: {Say, 'I do not ask of you any reward for it except friendship in kinship.'} (Surah Ash-Shura 42:23) they said, 'O Messenger of Allah, who are these relatives whose love Allah has commanded?' He said, 'Ali, Fatimah, and their two sons.'"

- Muhammad ibn Abdullah narrated to us, saying: Harb ibn Hassan al-Tahhan narrated to us, saying: Husayn al-Ashqar narrated to us, from Qays ibn al-Rabi, from al-Amash, from Sa'id ibn Jubair from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: When the verse {Say, "I do not ask of you any reward for it except companionship in [or, love for] family."} (Surah Ash-Shura 42:23) was revealed, they said, "O Messenger of Allah, who are these family members whose companionship is obligatory upon us?" He replied, "Ali, Fatimah, and their two sons."

- Abu al-Hasan al-Farzi narrated to us, saying: Abdul Aziz al-Sufi narrated to us, saying: Abu al-Hasan ibn al-Samsar narrated to us, saying: Ali ibn al-Hasan al-Suri narrated to us, and Suleiman ibn Ahmad ibn Ayyub al-Tabarani al-Lakhmi informed us in Isfahan, saying: Al-Husayn ibn Idris al-Jariri al-Tustari narrated to us, saying: Abu Uthman Talut ibn Ubad al-Basri al-Sayrafi narrated to us, from Fadal ibn Jubayr, who said: Abu Umamah al-Bahili narrated to us, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "Allah created the prophets from various trees, and created me and Ali from one tree. I am its root, Ali is its branch, Fatimah is its pollen, and Hasan and Husayn are its fruit. Whoever clings to a branch of its branches will be saved, and whoever strays will fall. And if a servant were to worship Allah between Safa and Marwah for a thousand years, then a thousand years, then a thousand years, and still not attain our love, Allah would throw him on his face in the Fire." Then he recited: {Say, "I do not ask of you any reward for it except love for my near relatives" (Surah Ash-Shura 42:23)}.

- Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Yahya al-Alawi narrated to us, from Abu Muhammad Isma'il ibn Muhammad ibn Ishaq ibn Muhammad ibn Ja'far, who said: My uncle Ali ibn Ja'far narrated to me, from al-Husayn ibn Zayd, from al-Hasan ibn Zayd, from his father, from his grandfather (peace be upon them), who said: Al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) delivered a sermon when Ali (peace be upon him) was killed and then said: "I am from the family for whom Allah has made love obligatory upon every Muslim, as He says:{Say, 'I do not ask of you any reward for it except love for my near relatives.' And whoever does a good deed, we will increase for him in goodness."} (Surah Ash-Shura 42:23) So, doing a good deed is our love, the love of the Ahl al-Bayt."
