- .... In Jewahir al-Aqdain: Abu al-Sheikh Ibn Hibban narrated from Zadan
from Ali (ra) who said: "Among us, in the Ahl al-Hamm, is a verse that only every believer will preserve." Then he recited:{ "Say, 'I do not ask of you a reward for it except for the love (mawaddah) in my near relatives (al-qurbā)" }(Surah Ash-Shura 42:23).
- .... And from Abi al-Tufayl, who said: Al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib (as) delivered a sermon to us: he recited this verse: { "And I have followed the religion of my fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob" }(Surah Yusuf 12:38), then said: "I am the son of the bringer of good tidings; I am the son of the warner; I am the son of the one who invites to Allah by His permission; I am the son of the luminous lamp; I am the son of the one whom He sent as a mercy to the worlds; I am from the Ahl al-Bayt from whom Allah has removed uncleanness and purified them completely.
I am from the Ahl al-Bayt whose love and authority Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, has made obligatory." Then he recited:{ "Say, 'I do not ask of you a reward for it except for the love (mawaddah) in my near relatives (al-qurbā)" }(Surah Ash-Shura 42:23)." Al-Tabarani narrated this in al-Kabir and al-Awsat, and al-Bazzar also narrated it.
- .... And it was narrated by the hafiz Jamal al-Din al-Zarandi al-Madani from Abi al-Tufayl and Ja'far ibn Hibban, and he added:
He said: "I am from the Ahl al-Bayt in whom Gabriel used to descend and from whom he would ascend." In the source, it was stated that Al-Hasan ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib (ra) delivered a sermon to us and shortened the sermon until he said: Then he said, "Whoever knows me has known me, and whoever does not know me, I am Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad (Peace be upon him and his holy progeny)." Then he recited { "And I have followed the religion of my fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob" }(Surah Yusuf 12:38). I am from the Ahl al-Bayt whose love Allah has made obligatory upon every Muslim, and Allah revealed concerning them:{ "Say, 'I do not ask of you a reward for it except for the love (mawaddah) in my near relatives (al-qurbā), and whoever performs a good deed, We will increase for him in it goodness'" }(Surah Ash-Shura 42:23), and performing a good deed is our love, the Ahl al-Bayt.
