1374 - Abdullah said: My father narrated to me, from Hasan, who is Ibn Musa, from Hammad ibn Salamah, from Yunus, from al-Hasan, who said: Two monks from Najran came to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said to them: "Submit, and you will be safe." They replied: "We have already submitted before you." The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said: "You lie; what prevents you from Islam are three: your prostrations to the cross, your saying, (Allah has taken a son) (Surah al-Baqarah 2:116), and your drinking of alcohol." They said: "What do you say about Jesus?" He replied: The Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) fell silent, and the Quran was revealed: {This is what We relate to you of the signs and the wise mention} (Surah Al Imran 3:58)
to his words: {Our sons and your sons} (Surah Al Imran 3:61).
He said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) invited them to a curse, and he brought along Hasan and Husayn and Fatimah (peace be upon them and her), his family and children. When they left him, one of them said to the other: "Admit to paying the tribute and do not curse him." So they returned and said: "We will agree to pay the tribute but we will not curse you." He said: "Then agree to pay the tribute."
