22 - And in Uyoon al-Akhbar from al-Rayan ibn al-Salt: Indeed, Imam Ali al-Ridha (peace be upon him) recited His statement, exalted be He: {So whoever argues with you about him after what has come to you of knowledge, say, "Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, and ourselves and yourselves; then we will sincerely pray and invoke the curse of Allah upon the liars" } (Aal 'Imran 3:61). Thus, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) brought forward Ali, al-Hasan, al-Husayn, and Fatimah (peace be upon them), and he meant by His words: "ourselves," the self of Ali (peace be upon him).

- .... So when Allah distinguished the pure ones from His creation and commanded His Prophet to engage in mubahaluh (mutual imprecation) with them in the Verse of Mubahalah He, the Exalted, said: O Muhammad: {So whoever argues with you about him after what has come to you of knowledge, then say, "Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves; then we will pray earnestly (mutually) and invoke the curse of Allah upon the liars" (Surah Al-Imran 3:61)} the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) presented Ali, Hasan, Husayn, and Fatimah (peace be upon them) and regarded your selves as one with himself. Do you know what this means: {ourselves and yourselves} (Surah Al-Imran 3:61)? The scholars said he meant himself.

- .... He said: So we prolonged our stay for her, and he said: Call me Ali. So he was brought to him, blind in one eye, and he spat in his eyes and handed him the banner, and Allah opened (victory) for him. And when this verse was revealed: ( "Let us call our sons and your sons" ) (Surah Al-Imran 3:61), the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) called Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn (peace be upon them) and said: O Allah, these are my family."

- .... The author of Manaqib narrated from Ja'far al-Sadiq, from his father, from his grandfather Ali ibn Husayn, that Hasan ibn Ali (peace be upon them) said in his sermon: "Allah, the Exalted, said to my grandfather (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) when the disbelievers of Najran denied him and argued with him: {So whoever argues with you about him after what has come to you of knowledge, say, 'Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, and ourselves and yourselves. Then let us supplicate earnestly and invoke the curse of Allah upon the liars' } (Surah Al-Imran 3:61)." So my grandfather (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) brought with him from among the selves my father (peace be upon him), and from the sons, me and my brother Husayn (peace be upon him), and from the women, my mother Fatimah (peace be upon her). Thus, we are his family, his flesh, and blood, his soul, and we are from him, and he is from us.

- .... And when this verse was revealed: {Let us call our sons and your sons (Ali Imran 3:61)} he called Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn (peace be upon them) and said: O Allah, these are my family. This was narrated by Muslim and al-Tirmidhi.

9 - Muslim and al-Tirmidhi narrated from Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas, who said: When this verse was revealed: {We call our sons and your sons (Ali Imran 3:61)} the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) called Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn (peace be upon them) and said: O Allah, these are my family.

192 - And they are also included in the story of the Mubahala in the verse: {So say, "Come, let us call our sons and your sons (Aal Imran 3:61)"} .... For he (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) had come to be holding Hussein (peace be upon him) in his arms and taking the hand of Hasan (peace be upon him), while Fatimah (peace be upon her) walked behind him, and Ali (peace be upon him) followed her. These are the People of the Cloak, and they are the intended ones in the verse about the Mubahala, and they are the intended ones in the verse: {Indeed, Allah intends to remove the impurity from you, O People of the Prophet, and to make you pure and holy} (Al-Ahzab 33:33).

226 - Al-Tabarani narrated that Ali was presented with gold and silver on the day of Basra, and he said: "O white one and yellow one, deceive others besides me! Deceive the people of Sham tomorrow when they appear victorious over you." His statement was difficult for the people to bear, and it was mentioned to him, so he gave permission for the people to enter. They came to him and asked him about it. Ali said: "My friend (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, 'O Ali, you will come to Allah, and your Shia will be satisfied and pleasing, and your enemies will come to Allah, angry and with heads held high.'" Then Ali gathered his hand to his neck, showing them the raised heads. Verse Nine: {So whoever argues with you about him after what has come to you of knowledge, say, 'Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, and ourselves and yourselves. Then let us supplicate earnestly, and we will invoke the curse of Allah upon the liars' (Surah Aal Imran 3:61)} He said in al-Kashaf: "There is no stronger evidence than this on the virtue of the People of the Cloak, who are Ali, Fatimah, and the two Hasanains (peace be upon them), for when this was revealed, he (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) called them and embraced Hussain (peace be upon him), taking Hasan's (peace be upon him) hand, while Fatimah (peace be upon her) walked behind him and Ali (peace be upon him) behind her," thus indicating that they were the ones intended by the verse, and it is known that the children of Fatimah and her descendants are called his (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sons and accurately attributed to him in a way that is valid and beneficial in this world and the Hereafter.

- .... And he also recited: {So say, "Come, let us call our sons and your sons (Aal Imran 3:61)"} and he (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) did not leave anyone with him at the time of the Christians' mu'bahala except Ali, Fatimah, and Hasan and Husayn, peace be upon them. Thus, Hasan and Husayn (peace be upon them) were the sons (peace be upon them) mentioned. Among the wondrous miracles he performed is what Ibn al-Jauzi, al-Ramahriri, and others narrated from Shaqiq al-Balkhi: He set out to perform Hajj in the year 149 AH and saw Imam al-Kazim (peace be upon him) in al-Qadisiyyah, alone and separate from the people. He thought to himself: This is a young man from the Sufis who wants to show the people his asceticism, so I will go to him and admonish him.

- .... And Allah, the Most High, said to my grandfather (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) when the unbelievers among the People of the Book denied him and argued with him: {So whoever disputes with you about him after what has come to you of knowledge, say, "Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves. Then let us pray fervently and invoke the curse of Allah upon the liars}" (Surah Aal-Imran 3:61). So my grandfather (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) brought with him from among the selves my father (peace be upon him), from among the sons me and my brother Husayn (peace be upon him), and from among the women my mother Fatimah (peace be upon her).
