Hadith No: 1
Al-Albani - Books on the Authentication of Prophetic Hadith - Hadith Number: (1750)
Type of Hadith: Sـahـih
- Text of the Hadith: "Whoever I am his Mawla, Ali is his Mawla. O Allah, befriend whoever befriends him and be an enemy to whoever is his enemy." Sـahـih, see its chains and corroborating evidence in the book, as they are many. The first of them is from Abu al-Tufayl, who reported it from him, saying: "When the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) completed the Farewell Pilgrimage and descended at Ghadir Khumm, he ordered that trees be gathered and they were gathered. Then he said: 'It seems that I have been invited, and I have accepted. And I am leaving among you two precious things, one of which is greater than the other: the Book of Allah and my Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them). So look at how you will treat me in both of these, for they will not be separated until they return to me at the Pond (of Kauthar).'' Then he said: 'Indeed, Allah is my Mawla, and I am the Mawla of every believer.'" Then he took Ali's (peace be upon him) hand and said: "Whoever I am his ally, this is his ally. O Allah, befriend whoever befriends him and be an enemy to whoever is his enemy." Sـahـih.
- As for what the Shiites mention in this hadith and others, that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said about Ali (peace be upon him): "He is my successor after me," it is not valid in any way, but rather it is one of their many falsehoods.

Al-Albani - Books on the Verification of Prophetic Hadith - Hadith Number: (1761)
Type of Hadith: Sـaـhـiـh
- Text of the Hadith: "O people, I have left among you that which, if you hold fast to it, you will never go astray: the Book of Allah and my Itrah, my Ahl al-Bayt." It is authentic based on its corroborating evidence.
See the lengthy explanation in the book, the summary of which is that the hadith is authentic after verification of its sources, even if some say it is weak.
The term "Itrah" refers to his Ahl al-Bayt, as stated in some versions of the hadith. His Ahl al-Bayt, in essence, are his wives (peace be upon him), including the truthful one, Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), all of them. The Shi'a's specification of the Ahl al-Bayt in the verses of the Quran to Ali, Fatimah, Hasan, and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them) alone, excluding his wives (peace be upon him), is a distortion of the signs of Allah, the Exalted, in defense of their desires.
