Al-Haythami - Majma' al-Zawa'id wa Manba' al-Fawa'id
Book of Al-Manaqib - Chapter on the Virtue of the People of the House (peace be upon them)
Volume: (9) - Page Number: (163)
14963 - Zayd ibn Arqam said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) stopped at al-Juhfa and then turned to the people, praised Allah, and extolled Him, and then said: "I find that no prophet will remain except for half the life of the one before him, and I am almost called and will respond. What will you say?" They said: "You have advised." He said: "Do you not testify that there is no god but Allah, that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger, that Paradise is true, and that Hell is true?" They said: "We testify." He then raised his hand and placed it on his chest and said: "And I testify with you." Then he said: "Are you not listening?" They said: "Yes." He replied: "I am a forerunner (fart) at the Pond, and you will come to the Pond, and its width is what is between Sana'a and Basra, containing cups as numerous as the stars made of silver.
So see how you will leave me in the two weights (thaqalayn)." And a caller called out: "And what are the two weights, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "The Book of Allah, one end in the hand of Allah, the Almighty, and the other in your hands. So hold fast to it and do not go astray, and the other is my family (Ahl al-Bayt). And the Subtle, All-Aware has informed me that they will not separate until they come to me at the Pond." I asked my Lord for this for them, so do not advance them and perish, nor be negligent of them and perish, and do not teach them, for they know better than you." Then he took the hand of Ali (peace be upon him) and said: "Whoever I am more worthy of than himself, Ali is his protector (wali)." Allah, be with whoever supports him and be hostile to whoever opposes him."
14964 - And in a shorter narration than this:
"containing cups as numerous as the stars made of gold and silver," and it also said:
"the greater is the Book of Allah, and the smaller is my lineage (itrati)."
