- .... Ahmad narrated
from Zayd ibn Thabit, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "I am leaving behind two successors among you: the Book of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic be He, a rope extended from the heavens to the earth, and my family, my Ahlulbayt. They will not separate until they return to me at the Pond."- .... Al-Tabarani narrated
from Zayd ibn Arqam, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "I am your forerunner, and you will be brought to the Pond. So look at how you will uphold my legacy in the two weighty things." It was asked, "What are the two weighty things, O Messenger of Allah?" He replied, "The greater is the Book of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic be He, one end of which is in the hand of Allah and the other in your hands. Hold on to it, for you will not be led astray or suffer loss." The smaller is my family, and they will not separate until they return to me at the Pond." He asked Allah for this for them, so do not precede them, lest you be destroyed, and do not teach them, for they are more knowledgeable than you.
- .... Ibn Sa'd, Ahmad, and Al-Tabarani narrated
from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "O people, I am leaving behind two matters among you, and if you hold on to them, you will not go astray after me. One is greater than the other: the Book of Allah, a rope extended from the heavens to the earth, and my family, my Ahlulbayt. They will not separate until they return to me at the Pond."
