5028 - Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Hadrami narrated to us, who said: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaiba narrated to us, and Abu Husayn al-Qadi narrated to us, who said: Yahya al-Hammami narrated to us, both saying: Muhammad ibn Fadl narrated to us. And al-Husayn ibn Ishaq al-Tustari narrated to us, saying: Uthman ibn Abi Shaiba narrated to us, and Isma'il ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, all from Abu Hayyan from Yazid ibn Hayyan, who said: I went to Zayd ibn Arqam with Husayn ibn Sabra and Umar ibn Muslim. When we sat down with him, Husayn ibn Sabra said to him: O Zayd, you saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and heard his hadith, and you fought in battles with him. You have certainly received much good, O Zayd. narrate to us, O Zayd, what you witnessed from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and what you heard. He said: O son of my brother, by Allah, my age has grown old, my time with him has become distant, and I have forgotten some of what I used to remember of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny). So what I tell you, accept it, and what I do not tell you, do not burden me with it. Then he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) stood up one day among us as a speaker at a place called Khum, between Mecca and Medina, and he praised Allah, the Exalted, and glorified Him, and admonished and reminded us. Then he said: "Amma ba'd, O people, I am only a human being. It is not long before a messenger from my Lord will come to me, and I will respond to him.
And I am leaving among you two precious things: one of them is the Book of Allah, which contains guidance and light. So hold fast to the Book of Allah and cling to it." He urged us regarding the Book of Allah and encouraged us to value it. Then he said: "I remind you of Allah concerning my Ahlul Bayt." He said this three times. Husayn asked him: Who are his Ahlul Bayt, O Zayd? Are not his wives part of his Ahlul Bayt? He replied: His wives are part of his Ahlul Bayt, but the Ahlul Bayt who are forbidden to receive charity after him are..." Umar ibn Muslim asked: "And who are they?" Zayd said: "They are the families of Ali, Jaafar, Abbas, and Aqil." It was said: "Are all these families forbidden to receive charity?" He replied: "Yes."
