3464 - And what Ibn Abi Dawud has narrated to us: He said: Muhammad ibn Abdullah ibn Numayr al-Hamdani narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Fadl ibn Ghazwan narrated to us, saying: Abu Hayyan Yahya ibn Sa'id ibn Hayyan al-Taimi narrated to us from Yazid ibn Hayyan, who said: Husayn ibn Uqbah and I went to Zayd ibn Arqam, and Husayn said to him: "Indeed, Allah has honored you, O Zayd. You have seen much good; you saw the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) and fought alongside him, and you heard from him. You have certainly received much good, O Zayd. So tell us what you heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)." Zayd replied: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) stood up among us at a place called Khum, between Mecca and Medina, with water in his hands. He praised Allah, Exalted and Majestic be He, and thanked Him, and then he mentioned, saying: 'Indeed, I am only waiting for a messenger to come to me from my Lord, Exalted be He, and I will respond.' And I am leaving behind in you the two precious things, the Book of Allah, Exalted and Majestic be He, in which is guidance and light. So hold firmly to the Book of Allah, Exalted and Majestic be He, and take from it.'" He encouraged reverence for the Book of Allah, Exalted and Majestic be He, and urged it, and then he said: "And I remind you, Allah, Exalted and Majestic be He, of my Ahlulbayt.'" Abu Ja'far said: We sought to find others who narrated from Yazid ibn Hayyan besides Abu Hayyan al-Taimi, so that it could be established that someone other than Abu Hayyan, who is similar to him in justice, had narrated from him, indicating that two just individuals had transmitted from him, and we found that al-A'mash had narrated from him.
