6645 - Muhammad ibn Salih ibn Hani' narrated to me, saying: Yahya ibn Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to me (and Abu Bakr ibn Ishaq also narrated to us), saying: Yusuf ibn Ya'qub informed us, both saying: Abu al-Rabi' al-Zahrani narrated to us, saying: Jarir narrated to us, from al-Mughira, from al-Sha'bi, from Jabir ibn Samurah (ra), who said: I was with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and I heard him say: "The matter of this nation will continue to be evident until twelve caliphs stand up." And he said a word that was unclear to me, and my father was sitting closer to him than I was, so I asked what he said. He replied: "All of them are from Quraysh." Jabir ibn Samurah also narrated another hadith from his father.

6648 - Ali ibn Isa narrated to us, saying: Ahmad ibn Najdah al-Qurashi narrated to us, from Sa'id ibn Mansur, from Yunus ibn Abi Ya'qub from Aun ibn Abi Juhaifa, from his father, who said: "I was with my uncle at the Prophet's (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) side, and he said: 'The affair of my الأمة (ummah) will continue to be righteous until twelve caliphs have passed.'" Then he said a word and lowered his voice, so I said to my uncle, who was in front of me: "What did he say, O uncle?" He replied: "He said, 'O my sons, all of them are from Quraysh.'"

8576 - Muhammad ibn Salih ibn Hani narrated to me, saying: al-Husayn ibn al-Fadl narrated to us, saying: Afan narrated to us, saying: Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Mujalid ibn Sa'id, from al-Shu'bi, from Masruq, who said: We were sitting one night with Abdullah, reciting the Quran, when a man asked him and said: "O Abu Abd al-Rahman, did you ask the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) how many caliphs this ummah would have?" Abdullah replied: "No one has asked me about this since I arrived in Iraq before you." He continued: "We asked him," and he said, 'Twelve, the same number as the leaders of the Children of Israel.'
