Al-Tabarani - al-Mu'jam al-Awsat - Chapter on the letter Aleph - Those Named Ahmad

859 - Ahmad narrated to us, who said: Al-Husayn narrated to us, who said: Sulayman narrated to us, from Amr, from Furāt al-Qazzāz, from Ubayd Allah ibn Ubayd, from Jabir ibn Samurah, who said: My father and I entered upon the Messenger of Allah, and he prayed over us. When he finished the prayer, the people gestured with their hands to the right and left. Yahiya saw them and said: "What is the matter with you that you are waving your hands to the right and left like the tails of horses?" He then continued, "When one of you finishes the prayer, let him greet with peace whoever is on his right and whoever is on his left." However, when they prayed with him again, they did not do that. We sat with him, and he said: "Islam will continue to be dominant until there are twelve rulers or caliphs, all of whom will be from Quraysh." This hadith was not narrated from Furāt except by Amr.

1430 - Ahmad said: Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Abi al-Madha' narrated to us, saying: Khallaf ibn Tamim narrated to us, saying: Isma'il ibn Ibrahim ibn al-Muhajir narrated to us, saying: I heard Abdullah ibn Malik ibn Umayr narrating from Jabir ibn Samurah, who said: I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say: "This matter will remain in the hands and in a state of prominence until twelve from Quraysh rule over it." None narrated this hadith from Isma'il except Khallaf ibn Tamim.

And the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) whispered a word that I did not hear, so I said to my father about the word that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) had whispered. He said: "They are all from Quraysh." No one narrated this hadith from Qatadah except Sa'id.

3938 - Ali ibn Sa'id al-Razi said: Al-Mu'jam al-Awsat narrated to us, saying: Bishr ibn al-Walid al-Qadi narrated to us, saying: Ishaq ibn Talha narrated to us, from Ma'bad ibn Khalid from Jabir ibn Samurah from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) who said: "This religion will continue to be sound and unaffected by the harm of those who oppose or oppose it until twelve princes, all from Quraysh, rule over it." No one narrated this hadith from Ma'bad ibn Khalid except Ishaq ibn Talha, and Bishr ibn al-Walid was unique in this.

He said, 'The affairs of my Ummah will continue to be righteous until there have passed twelve leaders.'" He lowered his voice with this statement, and I said to my uncle, who was in front of me, "What did he say, Uncle?" He replied, "All of them will be from Quraysh." None narrated this hadith from Awn ibn Abi Ja'fir except Yunus ibn Abi Ya'fur, and none narrated from Abi Ja'fir except with this chain of transmission.

6382 - And with him, from Zuhair who said: Ziyaad ibn Khatheema narrated to us from al-Aswad ibn Saiyid al-Hamdani from Jabir ibn Samura who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy pureness) said: "This Ummah will remain with its affairs straight and dominant over its enemies until twelve successors pass among them, all of whom will be from Quraysh." So when he returned to his home, Quraysh came to him and said: "What will happen then?" He replied: "Then there will be turmoil." This hadith was not narrated from al-Aswad ibn Saiyid except by Ziyaad ibn Khatheema, and none narrated it from Ziyaad except Zuhair ibn Muawiya.

They both said: Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Mujalid, from al-Sha'bi from Jabir, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) addressed us one day, and I heard him say: "This religion will continue to be mighty, secure, and manifest over those who oppose it, until twelve leaders arise, all of them..." Then the people began to chatter and talk, and I did not understand his words after "all of them," so I said to my father: "O my father, what did he mean after saying 'all of them'?" He replied: "All of them will be from Quraysh."

2044 - Zakariya ibn Yahya al-Saji narrated to us, saying: Musa ibn Sufyan al-Jundisaburi narrated to us, saying: Abdullah ibn al-Jahham narrated to us from Amr ibn Abi Qays from Samak ibn Harb from Jabir ibn Samura, who said: "I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say: 'There will be twelve princes', and then he spoke of something I did not hear. The people claimed that he said: 'All of them will be from Quraysh.'"

They both said: Az-Zuhair narrated to us, and Ziyad ibn Khaithama narrated to us, from al-Aswad ibn Sa'id al-Hamdani, from Jabir ibn Samura, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) said, "This ummah will continue to be upright in its affairs, prevailing over its enemies until twelve caliphs pass from among them, all of them from Quraysh." When he returned to his home, Quraysh came to him and said, "What will happen then?" He replied, "Then there will be turmoil."

He said: 'You will not cease to be in good as long as twelve leaders, all from Quraysh, stand over you.' I said to my father, 'Did you hear the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) say the same thing just now?' My father replied, 'He said that all of them are from Quraysh.'

Ibn Mas'ud replied: "No one has asked me about it since I arrived in Iraq, before you. We asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)," and he said: "Twelve, the number of the leaders of the Children of Israel," and the wording is from the hadith of Hajjaj.

He said: 'The affairs of my Ummah will continue to be sound until twelve caliphs have passed,' and he lowered his voice with this. I said to my uncle, who was in front of me, what did he say? O uncle, he replied: 'O son, all of them will be from Quraysh.'"
