- Ibn Abd Allah al-Asadi narrated to us, saying: I heard Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) saying: "There is not one among the Quraysh but that a verse or two has been revealed concerning him." Then a man said, "What was revealed about you?" He became angry and then said, "By Allah, if you had not asked me in front of the people, I would not have informed you." Then he asked, "Can you recite Surah Hud?" and he recited: {So is one who is upon clear evidence from his Lord, and a witness from him follows it} (Hud 11:17). "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) is on clear evidence from his Lord, and I am the witness from him. By the One who split the seed and created the soul, our situation among you is like the situation of the Ark of Noah among his people and the example of the Gate of Repentance among the Children of Israel. Do you read Surah Hud: {So is one who is upon clear evidence from his Lord, and a witness from him follows it} (Hud 11:17)? The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) is on clear evidence from his Lord, and I am following him, the witness from him."
