29460 - Musnad al-Siddiq (ra): Al-Hafiz Imad ad-Din ibn Kathir said in Musnad al-Siddiq: Al-Hakim Abu Abd Allah al-Nisaburi narrated to us: Bakr ibn Muhammad al-Sarifini in Marw narrated to us: Musa ibn Hammad narrated to us: al-Mufazzal ibn Ghassan narrated to us: Ali ibn Salih narrated to us: Musa ibn Abdullah ibn Hasan ibn Hasan ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib narrated to us, from Ibrahim ibn Amr, from Ubayd Allah al-Taymi, who said: Al-Qasim ibn Muhammad narrated to us, saying: Aisha said: "My father collected the hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and it was five hundred hadiths. He spent one night tossing and turning a lot." She continued, "So I was worried, and I said, 'Are you tossing and turning due to an illness or something that has reached you?'" When morning came, he said: 'O my daughter, bring me the hadiths that you have.' So I brought them to him, and he called for fire and burned them. He said, "I feared that I would die while they are with you, and there would be hadiths in them from a man whom I entrusted and found reliable, but he was not as he told me. I would be taking on that responsibility." Qadi Abu Umayyah al-Ahwus ibn al-Mufazzal ibn Ghassan al-Ghilabi narrated this as well from his father, from Ali ibn Salih, from Musa ibn Abdullah ibn Hasan ibn Hasan ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib, from Ibrahim ibn Umar ibn Ubayd Allah al-Taymi. Al-Qasim ibn Muhammad or his son Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim narrated to me, and Musa was uncertain about them both. He said: Aisha said - and he mentioned it, adding after his statement: "I would be taking on that responsibility," that "there might be a hadith that I did not find," and it could be said, 'If this was said by the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), it would not have escaped Abu Bakr. I told you the hadith, and I do not know. Perhaps I did not follow it closely word for word.'" Ibn Kathir said: "This is very strange from this perspective, and Ali ibn Salih is not known, and the hadith from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) are more numerous than this amount by thousands. Perhaps it only happened that he collected these, then saw what he saw due to the mention." I said: Sheikh al-Suyuti (ra) said, "Or perhaps he collected what he had missed hearing from the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and some of the companions taught him about it, such as the hadith of the grandmother and the like." It seems that this would not exceed this amount because he was the most vigilant of the companions, and he had hadiths that no one among them had, such as the hadith, "No prophet is buried except where he passes away," and he feared that what he had been told was a misunderstanding, and he thought he was taking on that responsibility, and this is explicit in his words.

- .... And among the Mursal narrations of Ibn Abi Mulaika is that al-Siddiq gathered the people after the death of their Prophet and said: "You will narrate from the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) hadiths in which you will differ, and people after you will differ even more severely. So do not narrate anything from the Messenger of Allah." He continued, "Whoever asks you, say: 'Between us and you is the Book of Allah. So consider His lawful as lawful and His forbidden as forbidden.'"
- .... And al-Hakim narrated, saying: Bakr ibn Muhammad al-Siyarfi told me in Merv: Muhammad ibn Musa al-Barbari told me: al-Mufaddal ibn Ghassan told me: Ali ibn Salih told me: Musa ibn Abdullah ibn Hasan ibn Hasan told me, from Ibrahim ibn Umar ibn Ubaydullah al-Taymi: al-Qasim ibn Muhammad narrated to me, saying: Aisha said: "My father collected the hadith from the Messenger of Allah (pbuh), and there were five hundred hadiths. He spent that night tossing and turning a lot." She continued, "I was worried, so I said: 'Are you tossing and turning out of pain or because of something you have heard?'" When morning came, he said: "O my daughter, bring me the hadiths you have." So I brought them to him, and he called for fire and burned them. I said, "Why did you burn them?" He replied: "I feared I might die while they were with me, and they might contain hadiths from a man I trusted and deemed reliable, which were not as he told me." He added, "I would have conveyed that," and this is not authentic. And Allah knows best.
