The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sent Abu Bakr al-Siddiq as the commander of the Hajj in the year Nine

- .... And Imam Ahmad said: Afan narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, from Samak, from Anas ibn Malik, that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sent a declaration of innocence (Barah) with Abu Bakr, and when he reached Dhul-Hulayfah, he said, "None will deliver it except me or a man from my Ahlulbayt." So he sent it with Ali ibn Abi Talib. And al-Tirmidhi narrated it from the hadith of Hammad ibn Salamah, saying: It is Hasan Ghareeb from the narration of Anas.

- .... Ahmad said: Waki' narrated to us, saying: Isra'il said: Abu Ishaq said, from Zayd ibn Buthayq from Abu Bakr: that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sent him with Surah Barakah to the people of Mecca, saying that no polytheist should perform Hajj after this year, nor should anyone circumambulate the House naked, and that no one would enter Paradise except a believing soul. Whoever had a delay between himself and the Messenger of Allah, his delay was extended to its term, and Allah is free from the polytheists, and so is His Messenger. He traveled with it for three days, and then said to Ali: "Catch up with him and return Abu Bakr to me; you deliver it."

Abdullah ibn Ahmad said: Muhammad ibn Sulayman Luwayn narrated to me, saying: Muhammad ibn Jabir narrated to us, from Samak, from Habashi, from Ali, who said: When ten verses from Surah Barakah were revealed, the Messenger of Allah called Abu Bakr and sent him with them to recite them to the people of Mecca. Then he called me and said: "Catch up with Abu Bakr, and wherever you find him, take the book from him and go to the people of Mecca and recite it to them." I caught up with him at al-Juhfa, took the book from him, and Abu Bakr returned. He said: "O Messenger of Allah, has something been revealed concerning me?" He replied: "No, but Gabriel came to me and said: 'Nothing will convey this except you or a man from your household.'"

And Imam Ahmad said: Afwan narrated to us, saying: Hammad narrated to us from Samak from Anas ibn Malik (may he be pleased with him): that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sent him with a declaration (Barā'ah) with Abu Bakr, and when he reached Dhul-Hulayfah, he said, "None will deliver it except me or a man from my Ahlul Bayt." So he sent it with Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him and his holy progeny)." And al-Tirmidhi narrated it in the تفسير (tafsir) section from Bandar from Afwan and Abd al-Samad, both from Hammad ibn Salamah, with the same wording, and then said: "It is حسن غريب (hasan gharib - a narration that is good but strange) from the hadith of Anas (may he be pleased with him)."

And Israel said from Abu Ishaq from Zayd ibn Yathigh, who said: Al-Bara'ah (Surah At-Tawbah) was revealed, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sent Abu Bakr, then sent Ali to take it. When Abu Bakr returned, he said: Was something revealed concerning this? He replied: No, but I was commanded to convey it, either by myself or by a man from my family. Then he went to the people of Mecca....

And Muhammad ibn Ishaq said from Hakim ibn Hakim ibn Ibad ibn Hanif from Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Ali ibn al-Husayn ibn Ali, who said: When Al-Bara'ah was revealed to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), he had already sent Abu Bakr to perform the pilgrimage (hajj) for the people. It was said: O Messenger of Allah, would it not be better to send Abu Bakr? He said, "No one can deliver it on my behalf except a man from my family." Then he called Ali and said: Go with this chapter from Surah At-Tawbah and announce to the people on the day of Eid...
