668 - Yahya ibn Yahya narrated to us, stating: Hisham narrated to me from Mughirah from Amar from al-Muharir ibn Abi Huraira from his father, who said: I was with Ali ibn Abi Talib when he proclaimed Bera'ah (Declaration of Innocence), and he would call it out. When his voice became hoarse, he would instruct me to call out, and I would say: O Father, what were you proclaiming? He said: We were proclaiming that no one will enter Paradise except a believer, that no one will perform Hajj after this year as a polytheist, and that no one will circumambulate the House (Kaaba) naked.

671 - Muhammad ibn Ammar ar-Razi and Muhammad ibn Abd ar-Rahim al-Bazzaz narrated to us, saying: Sa'id ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from Ibad ibn al-Awwam, from Sufyan ibn Husayn, from al-Hakam ibn Atibah, from Muqsim from Ibn Abbas: that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sent Abu Bakr, then followed him with Ali, and handed him the Book of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), and appointed him over the pilgrimage . And he instructed us to announce with these words, so we went and performed the Hajj. Ali stood on the Days of Tashriq and announced: "The covenant of Allah and His Messenger is free from every polytheist. So travel in the land for four months, and no polytheist shall perform Hajj after this year, nor shall anyone walk around the House in utter nakedness, nor enter Paradise except a believer." And Ali kept announcing this, when suddenly Abu Huraira stood up and began to proclaim the same.

672 - Ibrahim ibn Sa'id al-Jawhari narrated to us, saying: Hussein ibn Muhammad narrated to us, saying: Sulayman ibn Qarim narrated to us from al-A'mash from al-Hakam from Muqsim from ibn Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sent Abu Bakr with Surah at-Tawbah (Chapter of Repentance), then followed him with Ali. What Ali was sent with contained four things: No one will enter Paradise except a Muslim soul, no polytheist will perform Hajj after this year, no one will circumambulate the House (Kaaba) naked, and whoever had a covenant with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) will be under its duration.
