364 - Ali narrated to us, saying: Abu Ubaid narrated to us, saying: Abu al-Yaman narrated to us, from Shu'ayb ibn Abi Hamzah, from Ibn Shahab, from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, that the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) appointed Abu Bakr as the leader over that pilgrimage and commanded him to announce (the message of) Bara'ah. Ibn Shahab said: Hamid ibn Abd al-Rahman informed me from Abu Huraira, who said: Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) sent me with a group of heralds on the day of Nahr, instructing us to declare that no polytheist should perform Hajj after this year, nor should anyone unclothed encircle the House. Hamid added: Then the Prophet (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) appointed Ali (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) to follow him and commanded him to announce this.

455 - Ibn Shaab narrated to me: Humaid ibn Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, that Abu Huraira said: Abu Bakr sent me during that pilgrimage with a group of callers he dispatched on the Day of Sacrifice to announce: "No polytheist shall perform Hajj after this year, nor shall any approach the House (Kaaba) unclothed." Humaid ibn Abd al-Rahman then added that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) appointed Ali and commanded him to announce the Revelation of Immunity (Surah At-Tawbah, 9:1-3). Abu Huraira said: Ali proclaimed to the people in Mina on the Day of Sacrifice the Revelation of Immunity, that no polytheist shall perform Hajj after this year, nor shall any approach the House unclothed.

456 - He said: Ibn Abi Uday narrated to me from Shu'bah, from Mughirah, from al-Sha'bi from Muharrir ibn Abi Hurayrah, from his father, who said: "I was the mu'adhdhin (caller to prayer) for Ali ibn Abi Talib when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny) sent him with Baqarah to the people of Mecca." He said: I called out until my voice became hoarse. He said: What did you call them with? I said: I called them out saying: "No one will enter Paradise except a believer, and after this year, no polytheist shall make pilgrimage (hajj) or circle the House (Ka'bah) naked. And whoever has a covenant with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), his term is four months: When the four months are over, then Allah is free of the polytheists and so is His Messenger."
