3286 - Sa'id ibn Uthman al-Ansari witnessed the Battle of Uhud. Ibn Rahwayh narrated in his Musnad from the path of al-Zubayr, who said: "By Allah, I can hear the words of Mu'tab ibn Qusayr while drowsiness overwhelms me: 'If we had any say in the matter, we would not have been killed here' (referring to the events of Surah Aal Imran)." Then he said, and his statement: {Indeed, those who turned back among you on the day the two armies met were only led astray by Satan because of some of what they had earned, and Allah has already forgiven them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Forbearing} (Surah Aal Imran 3:155)
he said: Among them was Uthman ibn Affan, and Sa'id ibn Uthman, and Alqamah ibn Uthman, both Ansaris. He said they reached a mountain in the vicinity of Medina, in the valley of al-A'was, and stayed there for three days. Iktikaf ibn Ishaq narrated it in his Musnad with his interpolation, and from his statement, then the rest of Ibn Ishaq's words in al-Maghazī.
